Current Surgeon vs AI Action

Here’s a nice little timeline of that day from the ol iPhone photo bank. The conditions driving out, the conditions there, a few of the pieces of brass during while we were laughing out asses off that this gun was still working, and then the aftermath of how many primers that rifle ate and didn’t skip a beat.

I like Surgeon actions and love impact actions, but they WILL NOT run with an AI when the conditions are shit. I’ve shot matches where my rifle was caked in mud and it didn’t stop working when others were struggling to get a single round off.
The SH reloading mantra: We start at book max and work our way up! 😂 Fukushima then we work our way up to Chernobyl loads.

Powder Dispensing Accuracy & Match Dies

Blanket statements like that are disingenuous at best.

*Short range* BR shooters *used* to throw all their charges. More and more use pre-weighed charges, or bring the scale to the range with them.

*Long range* BR shooters (600 & 1k) have never used thrown charges. The nodes they're after are way finer than any powder thrower can produce.
Point still stands. You don't need the .02 of a grain accuracy. I very much doubt anyone could shoot the difference if they were given loads blind. There are just too many variables to worry about that fine of a resolution in charges.

Noveske DDF Barrels

Competition is one thing and I agree if that is what you're doing, you may need purpose built/custom built/better than. On the other hand, I've taken many 2-5 day rifle classes and most of the rifle/shooter combo's can't hold 3 MOA + it would be a rare shooter who brought an X Arc, Grendel, intermediate caliber at 2-3x the cost of 556.

But - competition, rooftop warfare, training class - I'd question how many rifles would give *demonstrably superior results*.

I don't have a Noveske tattoo or anything but to be sure a fan. I don't own any 6 ARC or DDF so no dog in those fights, but on balance, my experience with my 556 and Grendel Noveskes is universally sub MOA and as reliable as semi gets. Better is always possible, but I'd be curious to know exactly what is "better" that doesn't go into the realm of specifically being a game gun, in all seriousness.
