Report: President-Elect Trump Has ‘Lost Faith’ in the NRA

Former President Donald Trump speaks during the National Rifle Association Convention, Apr

A report by the New York Times (NYT) suggests President-elect Donald J. Trump has “lost faith” in the National Rifle Association (NRA).
According to the NYT, NRA First Vice President Bill Bachenberg used a letter to disclose, “I can say for a fact that President Trump and his most inner circle have lost faith in the NRA.”
Bachenburg also noted, “I communicate with them often. We have a tremendous amount of work to rebuild trust with them, just like our members and donors.”
The NYT pointed out that a sticking point for Trump appears to be the tens of millions of dollars the NRA has paid William A. Brewer III, an attorney who whose political donations “have favored Democrats over the years.
Trump spoke at the NRA’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Dallas, Texas, on May 18. The speech marked his ninth time to stand on stage to speak to NRA leadership and members.
Breitbart News was at the convention as Trump spoke, and noted his observation that it is time for “a great restoration of American freedom.”
Trump noted, “We need the Second Amendment for safety. Forget about going hunting and all the things you do — we need it for safety. Because you know the bad guys are not giving up their guns. The bad ones are not giving up their guns.”

Christmas gift thread! Please read instructions to participate!

Gentlemen, I thought about doing something fun this year for Christmas, I pulled 7 10 11 lucky items out of my collection and I'm going to be giving them away to 7 10 11 lucky Sniper's Hide members! I'll keep trying to add a new gift for each new page added in this thread! If we hit 5 pages, I'll also donate $500 to the Scout Sniper Association (the donation will be from everyone who is participating in this Christmas gift thread)!!!

Here's the thread rules, please read them carefully before posting in this thread:
  • This is not a discussion thread, so please do not deviate from what you're supposed to post here, or you'll be disqualified
  • All you have to do to participate in this thread is make 1 single post with the word "M40" in it
  • Each Sniper's Hide member only gets 1 post in this thread, you will be disqualified if you make multiple posts
  • If you post anything other than the word "M40" in your single post, you will be disqualified (I use quotes around the word "M40" to show you that this is the word to be posted, it doesn't matter if you have quotes around the word "M40" or not. So, posts with either "M40" or M40 are both acceptable)
  • Edited to add - Posting a photo of an M40 along with the word "M40" is also perfectly accessible, just please don't post anything else, since this isn't a discussion thread
  • Only Sniper's Hide accounts created yesterday (Dec. 14, 2023) and prior are able to participate. This is to prevent random people coming to this forum and creating new accounts with the hopes of winning something. It also ensures that only current members of our community are eligible to participate
  • You can enter a single post in this thread at anytime between when I make this first post and midnight (12am Central) on Christmas Eve. Any posts made after this time will be disqualified (I'll do my best to login at that time and make a cutoff post)
  • When you make your single post in this thread, there will be a post number assigned to it by the forum system. This number is your identification number and it will be used in the random number generator
  • The only Sniper's Hide member who is immediately disqualified is TMA (if he's still even on this forum). Guys who hang out in the Vintage Section will understand. Everyone else is welcome to participate (as long as your account was created on or before yesterday, Dec. 14, 2023)
Here's how I'll choose the winners:
  • I'll vett all of the posts and record any disqualifying posts
  • I'll use a random number generator to draw numbers and I'll post the results so that everyone can see the randomly chosen numbers
  • The random number generator will run the entire range of post numbers in this thread
  • The 1st number drawn will win the 1st gift, the 2nd number drawn will win the 2nd gift, etc. and will continue in this order for all 11 gifts
  • I'll have the random number generator choose more than 11 numbers, even though there are only 11 gifts. This is to ensure that I have enough numbers drawn in case any of the numbers link up to a disqualified post. In the event that a number is disqualified, I'll move down the number list to the next number
  • Once the first 11 randomly selected qualifying numbers are matched up with their respective gifts, I'll reach out to the people who made those posts and get their shipping information (no one needs to contact me, I'll contact the winners)
I'm not affiliated with Sniper's Hide in any way, I'm just doing this because I thought that it would be awesome. I'll be the person vetting the entries in this thread and the person drawing the winning post numbers. I started another thread where we can have a discussion about this gift thread, it's also posted in the Vintage Section. Go to that thread to ask questions or make comments about this thread.

To the Mods reading this thread, this is not a sales thread or an attempt to circumvent the buy/sell/trade rules of this forum. This is just a fun thread where I hand out some cool stuff to my fellow community members! No money or anything else will be exchanged, the winners will get their item for free and I'm also paying the shipping/insurance costs to mail these items out. This is 100% free to everyone who participates. Please keep this thread in the Vintage Section, this is where I hangout on the site and I can easily keep an eye on the thread (and the other discussion thread). Please contact me if you have any questions about this thread, and I hope that it doesn't break any forum rules.

Here's the 7 10 11 Christmas gifts, I hope these are things that you guys might enjoy (well, we know that everyone will want the first gift!).

Barrel contour

I have a remage prefit barrel in 30 nosler from X caliber. Does anyone know of any place that could re contour it and re flute it? I asked X caliber and they will not do it. They also will not produce me another barrel in 30 nosler bc they do not have the reamers and they will not rent them again. I love the barrel it shoots lights out. I ordered a mcgowen in the contour I wanted, but I prefer the X caliber barrel.

Captain's log- it's 12 DEC 2024 and my wife was right...

On kitchen knives.

We bought what I considered an obscenely expensive set of kitchen knives in November. Approaching custom 1911 prices expensive... well dang if I haven't changed my opinion of it being frivolous after using them for the past month or so.

I still think we grossly overpaid but dang if a set of quality kitchen knives don't just punch way above their price point/assumed influence. These things (for a lack of better words) fucking rock.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Primer pressure vs neck tension

There’s been quite a few discussion about neck tension, neck lube, and some discussion on primer weight sorting too and SD
I have no answers but just questions for the experts here.

Do you suppose that there is a good relationship between getting good SD and neck tension/lube has to do with whether a primer by itself causes enough pressure to dislodge the bullet from the case and enter the rifling? Or by how deep it enters?

Suppose a primer does not always dislodge bullet from the case depending on neck tension, neck crimp, and neck lube. So a lighter hold on the bullet from the neck would result is more likely to dislodge bullet with just the primer, and a stronger neck hold results in more unlikely to dislodge. Then wouldn’t it be a good assumption that a middle strength hold on the neck results in inconsistency in dislodging?

Wouldn’t this inconsistency cause the SD to be higher due to different combustion characteristics?

Then all this discussion around SD in relation to neck tension, lube, crimp, primer weights etc really are trying to find a combo that creates a consistent release?

If so, would a consistent strong neck grip that is stronger than the primer alone can dislodge be about as good as one that consistently allows the release? Or would one be preferable to another? Why?

Tikka SV Aftermarket Stock

Good evening gentlemen,

I’m looking for an aftermarket stock for my tikka supervarmint in 223 caliber. It’s going to be used mainly for FTR/Target shooting. I was leaning towards the Bell and Carlson Target stock CTR. I have a CTR bottom metal and mag to go with it. What’s your guys opinions on it and are there any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks gents

New purchase - MATCH PRO ED 3-18X50 RIFLESCOPE

I picked up the New Bushnell 3-18 Match Pro, and when comparing it in a Side by Side to my Leupold MK5 3.6-18 IMO I'd say the clarity on the Match Pro is definitely better with less CA. The closest house to me is exactly 207 yards away and I can clearly make out the large Phillips head screws on his front door. The MP is brighter and seems to gather more light.

The Eye Box is extremely generous and the 15yrd parallax is very broad not anywhere near as sensitive as the MK5.

The illumination shake awake function is helpful. The Match Pro has some shared features with the MK5 such as the Rev indicator, Zero Stop, Locking Elevation, Caped widget.

The Elevation adjustment is just as Audible and tactile as the MK5 but the Match Pro windage is pretty quite but still tactile.

The Turetts are easier to read especially compared compared to that funky windage line the MK5 has. 40 Mils of Elevation, 14.5 Mils Windage for the Match Pro, Field of View at 3x is 41' at 100 yds and at 18x 6.8' . Has a very generous 3.9" Eye Relief.

I prefer a 34mm main tube over the Leupold 35mm because 98% of my optics are 34mm which I already have plenty options on hand for mounting.

I've had to send in Vortex, Nightforce, minox, Leupold, Burris..what shit show that was🙄 but never a Bushnell HDMR/DMR/Pro.

At only only 2oz heavier and half the price of the MK5 I feel like I've found the perfect SPR Optic. If the reliability is anywhere near as good as the Tactical Elite 3.5-21x50, it's a win.

If anyone is interested in me following up on this thread as I Stetch it out, let me know.

Neck size clarification

Hi

Fairly new to reloading, so assume I know nothing lol.

Reloading for a 6mm Dasher, and the dies I have other than the seating die are:
  • Forster FL die (with expander ball)
  • Redding neck size die with bushing
I have been told that the Forster FL die is over working the brass because it first contracts the neck and then expands it using the expander ball. It does have the removable expander ball. Is there a point in me getting a Redding FL sizing die with bushing? The idea is that I can remove the bushing and just do the shoulder with nothing to the neck, or if I need to size the neck, I can pop the bushing back in. OR, can I just remove the expander ball from the FL die and just do the shoulder + neck contract?

I do have a few questions regarding if and when I should be sizing the neck.
1. If my twice fired brass chambers without an issue, I am guessing that I don't need to bump the shoulders for any reason. Does this mean that I can just use my redding to size the neck and then seat the projectile? If I am not bumping the shoulder, do I even need to size the neck or can I just go straight to seating? (I am thinking not, as the neck might not adequately hold the projectile).
2. Is it recommended to get the mandrel die to expand the neck? If so, what would the steps look like? Will I be sizing the neck with the redding die (assuming I don't need to bump the shoulder), and then use the mandrel to expand? If I do need the bump the shoulder, my current Forster die also sizes the neck. Will the mandrel die be useful in this scenario?

Basically it comes down to if I should be getting the Redding FL die with bushing and/or mandrel die for neck expansion?

Thank you
