Just got back from the range and disappointed once again in Hornady 6.5 prc 147 loads. Last two rounds in the box both blew the primer. I didn’t see it after the first one otherwise I would have stopped. Hopefully nothing hurt the action.

Anyways, looking for some suggestions for other factory 6.5 prc you have had good luck with. Also, I remember reading somewhere hornady had put out some questionable 6.5 prc ammo recently. Is this still the sentiment?

Hello everyone,
I am currently working on loading .308 with 175gr Sierra Match King bullets on a Dillon RL550C and Dillon's .308 dies.

I am noticing that my OAL after seating is varying and I suspect it may be related to the imperfections at the tip of every SMK bullet influencing this. My goal OAL is 2.800in, however I am getting the following lengths on the last 5 test runs:

2.799
2.806
2.789
2.800
2.805

I understand that a variation if +/- .005in should be expected for OAL, however I do notice that the measurement can change with where I decide to measure from the tip of the bullet the tips are often slanted with high points and lower points.

So in essence I have 3 questions:
1. Is this bullet tip variation and OAL variation something I need to worry about, or should I accept this range and be satisfied so long as the average is around 2.800?
2. I am not crimping since this will be going into a magazine fed bolt action rifle and my understanding is it won't be necessary in this use case - do you crimp in your mag fed bolt actions?
3. The completed cartridge does not fit into the case gauge post-seating without a crimp however will fit in my chamber fine. This is to be expected right?

Thought I'd post a quick result from my first time shooting this gun; haven't been able to find much data.
Also sorry I forgot the chrono so i'll have to save that for another time.

Here's the setup, pretty simple 16", shot from a bench rest but with only a 1-8x optic:



Range 100y
Ammo factory 130gr Federal GMM Berger
First group, cold bore, suppressed, 7 shots, 4.77 MOA:

Worst group from the night was the last group, everything heated up pretty well. This was also 7 shots, .873 MOA spread.

For a relatively thin, chrome-lined CHF factory barrel, it's unexpectedly accurate for what it is; I was delighted to see that. More magnification could also have helped, I was still shouldering the rifle in the benchrest and there was movement. I'll take it out to distances up to 1000m over the next few months and see if these outcomes are reinforced. Nevertheless, for my purposes this initial result looks promising.

Even in a state that has done away with qualified immunity they are still to fucking stupid to match numbers before a swat raid - o and then of course they lied about it in their reports cause they assumed no one would ever watch the video.
It is a miracle that no one was unalived- bunch of guys with sub guns to fucking stupid to match 3 or 4 numbers could have easily dusted everyone claiming they were afraid of old lady and little girls.
