Accessories Glassing pillow / Shooting bag, $30 off

The Triple S Pillow --Shooting/Sitting/Sleeping-- is $30 off, the lowest price ever at $63.00, and probably won't be this low ever again. We are in stock and shipping, so it will make it for Christmas. The sale price is $78.75 then stack the code: 20%off and everything in your cart will get the discount, dropping the SSS Pillow to $63.00. Check out the product reviews at the link below.

It only weighs 7 ounces. It is filled with Spexlite beads, so it won't compress over time like white polystyrene beads.

It is regularly used as a glassing pad, front/rear support, and as a support pillow. Kneel on it to keep needles and thorns out. Its awesome for mid afternoon naps, and is a great pillow for night. Double it up for side sleepers, lay it out flat for back sleepers.

If you ever buy anything, and its not for you, let me know and return it for a refund. So, give it a try.

Just tried the reloader 33 powder in the 338 . 99.0 gr
Kreiger 9.3 x27
fed 215mag
hornydaddy 285
2789 es of 6 with hornydaddy brass. bolt lifts fine untill the cam over . then it takes a bit of a nudge.
2796 es of 14with Lapua brass . effortless bolt lift .
both loads shot at 80 degrees, and at 400 yards with 12mph wind from 3.
they both kept 1" vert . last 5 shot group was 2.125" All at 400 yards

Sako TRG-42 338LM 1:12" twist, so this is for the 250s.

Go-to powders are VV-165, VV-170, H-4831sc and H-1000.

I bought an 8# jug of H-4831sc and have used that a lot.

Pet load is H-4831sc at between 88gr-89gr under 250gr Scenars, LockBase, Berger OTMs and SMKs, for about 2875-2950ish fps depending on Miami temps. It's not a stiff load, but it's not a cream-puff load, either.

For the Berger 250gr pre-production testing, I just split the difference at 88.5gr and played with seating depth, my rifle likes that node that much.

Looking back at my VV-165 loads with the 250s, anything from 84gr-87gr and just about 2800 fps. VV-170 at 93gr in my 27.125" barrel yielded 2825 fps.

For my limited testing with H-1000 and the 250s, 97gr got me 2974 fps, so well on my way to be above hot at 3000 fps.

The rifle is fairly accurate (I'm just a hack) out to the 1000 yds that I've shot at 4-5 times, so most of those combos are close to one another accuracy-wise.

I must have missed this one or maybe it just got pinned. I'm getting ready to star loading .338 LM for the first time and will be starting with H1000 and hornady 285 bthp, because that's what I have right now.

Based on searches on the old Hide and other googlization, I've got my starting points and maxes set for first try, but am still interested in loads others have had success with.

As you know, loading manuals and other industry sources seem notoriously slow to add load information for newish products. Even Hornady doesn't list good loads for it's own 285s that have been out for years.

DTA SRS DT barrel 26"

lapua brass

fed 215m

92.0 retumbo

2745 with SD 6.0

300 grain Nosler cc

< 0.5 MOA 5 shot groups

ETA I'm getting a slight ejector mark, very faint, so I backed down to 91 grains. My barrel since it was broke in is faster, so 91 grains still gets me 2752 average velocity 5 shots, SD <10 FPS. Next I'm going down to 90 grains, just to be kind to the brass, just in case. To reiterate, this does not appear to be a HOT load, I'm backing down for brass life and an extra safety margin.

I'll have to measure when I get home. I am loading them to mag length, they are quite a ways off the lands. I would not recommend this load for everyone, it is just a touch over pressured.

EDIT: They are 3.784 COAL.

Looking for some input and your opinion on the Berger 338 OTM's.

I have H1000 and some 250's to load up. Been using scenars but wanted to give the Berger's a shot.

26". 1:9.4 Krieger. 1500 yards is max range available. My rifle likes bullet jump (.015).

Thanks

I am currently making a MV of 2632 out of my 27" AI AXMC using Berger 300 OTMs and 87.4 grains of H1000. What kind of velocity jump should I expect if I bump it up to 89.5 grains of H1000? I'd like to get a little more out of my transonic range for shooting at a mile by shooting closer to 2700-2800, but started getting harder bolt lift at 90 grains with Hornady brass. Is it likely I could even push it a little further using Lapua brass?

I am using both Lapua and Norma brass with Berger 300 OTM's.

26" Krieger with 92.0 of H1000 at 2800. My best nodes were between 91.5 and 92.0

I have settled on 91.8 (base to ogive @ 2.956), seated at 2.933 (.023" jump) with no pressure on brass or sticky bolt. Loaded at the absolute maximum magazine length (coal @ 3.788"). MV is 2788 over my V3.

Suppressors In need of an older model flash hider - AAC 18T 1/2 x 28

I have an AAC 762-SD suppressor (maybe 8-10 yrs old) that I want to use on an AR-15 5.56, but the 18-teeth flash hider adapter required has been discontinued by AAC. I've looked everywhere online for new and used (ebay, gundeals, gunbroker, etc), and have found nothing. I can't get in touch with anyone at AAC - since they were acquired by Remington their website is dead and phone message just says that the offices are closed. Remington is no help either.

Anyway, any leads on where I could possibly find one used (or new) would be greatly appreciated!

Here a link just to show a photo:
https://bullseyegun.com/aac-blackout-fh-5-56mm-18t-1-2x28/

PS - even if you come across this post much later, I'll likely still be interested in picking up a spare.

Sizing 6mm creed to 6.5 creedmoor

Question to everyone.

Is there anything I need to watch for sizing a 6mm creedmoor case up to 6.5 creedmoor? I annealed it, resized it/ trim/deburr and chamfer. The shoulder is at the same place as my hornady 6.5 brass now, no bumps or bulges on the case, and the neck thickness is the same as well as diameter.

I’ve seen on other forums this works I just wanted so see the consensus before I waste a primer and powder loading a round.

Lube residue on bullet seating...

Hello,
on my brass preparing process I use the Redding dry Lube for lubing the neck and Redding Imperial Wax.

I Lube the body of the case with Imperial Wax and the fingers and dip the neck on the dry lube then resize.

After that, I clean the exerior of the case with isopropil alcool.

I not use the same product/method for the interior of the neck.
Some time I use a brush, but I think that some residue of dry lube remain.

Have some advantage on seating with lube residue?

Making some advantage on consistency?

Thanks

Producing Ammo with Low SD's

Perhaps some more experienced reloaders can comment.

What is the biggest indicator of producing low SD's in ammo? Is it bullet selection, powder selection(powder burn rate), primers, case fill, consistency of brass, or some combination of the above?

I have a new 6gt competition barrel which is shooting really tight groups on paper, but the SD's have been around 20 for a 25 shot sample size. This is with virgin Alpha brass and a barrel round count around 100. Running 112 Matchburners with 37GN of H4350 behind them and cci 450's. I'm hoping the SD's will drop once the barrel is fully broken in, I'll start load development at that point and perhaps experiment with some faster burning powders behind 109 Bergers.

МЦ-55 Zenit rifle by Yevgeny Dragunov

Not a sniper rifle, but definitely vintage ( late 50s ) for Olympic competition 300m – I’m looking for information about this weapon.

I came across an advertisement of sale of such a rifle and started to browse the internet. Unfortunately, there is very little information about it. It was developed in 1955 by a team with the participation of Yevgeny Dragunov ( later the creator of the SVD rifle ).

Only 10 “Zenit” rifles were supposed to be produced for the leading sports shooters of the USSR, in the first period of manufacture ( 1956 – 1961 ).
Based on experience from use in the years 1963-73, 110 rifles were produced, but already in the improved version "Zenit-3".

The rifle that is advertised for sale does not have an original stock butt plate, a diopter sight and original Soviet documents are missing and it also has a modern Picatinny rail mounted on the receiver. It looks like it has only flaws.

So why did I get interested in it? Because it has the name "Zenit" engraved on the receiver - without an additional number and the year of production 1957. It would seem that this is a rifle from the first series of only 10 produced. But it also has serial number No. 66 and the theory that it is one of those first ten can unfortunately be questioned. There is a problem with the Soviet numbering system of sports weapons. I already have a Typhoon-3 rifle, of which only 130 were supposed to be produced and mine has serial number M247 and I have also seen a rifle with the number P1321.

So this Zenit with the number "66" may be one of the first 10 rifles produced in this version and the numbering does not reflect the scale of production but there is no evidence for this.

That's why I'm asking if anyone on the forum knows anything more about Zenit rifles?

Zenit - 1957 - No 66.jpg

WTF barrel worms?

Ok, the title is a joke, but check this out. From my AIAX barrel, it used to shoot one shot on top of the next, now the groups have opened up, it still shoots good but just not 1/4 moa anymore. WTF did I do, was this from rust? Overpressure? I have never oiled my barrels and was this from erosion? Whats the copper color stuff, is that copper or rust? Gunsmiths chime in please.

This is a brand new in the box Swarovski Z6i 2.5-15X44 P HD, Model SW69458 (now called BT 4A-I) I had two Swarovski scopes, and I used the other, a Z8. The Z6i somehow got slid into the Z8 box, but it is brand new unmounted with the price tag still on it. I paid $3340 for it, you can get the model that replaced this (same model number), on Euro Optic for $3099, I will take $2600 delivered to you. PM me if you want more pics.

Firearms Kelbly Action w/ Xlr Envy JV - $1k

Against my better judgement I’m going to get rid of a project rifle that I don’t need to start with.

Details are the following:
Kelbly BlackBear Tactical - SA, RH, 308 BF
6bra barrel 26” threaded 5/8”-24, unknown round count, unknown make, and unknown smith - basically just a fireform/place holder barrel
Xlr envy Chassis JV version with Ergo grip. (Needs buttpad) everything else is there.

Trigger hangar is on its way, but included in the price

Askin $1000 + Insurance cost. For anyone one that knows about these actions they are discontinued but are extremely nice and absolute tanks. Can’t buy an action for even this price, let alone the chassis. I have talked with Kelbly and they said they would support the action for its lifetime

It’s a flat bottom steel tactical action that takes AICS mags. Integral lug and integral rail, and one of the smoothest on the market.

Only trades are:
Bighorn origin/TL3 Steel light contour 6.5creed or 6.5prc barrel
Hunting oriented stock - KRG bravo, Manners w/ mini chassis, McMillan

SOLD WTS Vortex Razor Gen II

Interested in trading my vortex razor gen II 4.5-27×56mm for a custom action.

It's in great shape except I scratched the center of the caps taking them off and on at a match with a screwdriver in a hurry. Vortex will replace the caps for free if they are an issue. Otherwise, it has a few minor handling marks from normal use in 3 or 4 prs matches. It is the EBR7C reticle in mils. I have the original box and everything that came with it.

I pulled this thing off the market months ago because I didn't get a trade offer that I wanted, but now it just sets in my closet, so let's find someone who can use it. $1450 delivered to your door.

I could probably also be swayed by really interesting trades. Small caliber bolt rifles, high quality lightweight rifle scopes, etc., but I'll be picky.

Aero Precision Solus Bravo

So I’ve been lurking here for a bit and reading. I went to a local gun store and had a chance to look at both the Bravo Model and the competition model. The Bravo in 308 is on sale for $1,300.00 I really liked that specific. It felt balanced to me the bolt was pretty smooth and the trigger wasn’t bad. I know it can be replaced with a trigger tech or timmney.

I also understand that the barrel is a Ballistics Advantage so it’s okay it not a high end barrel. One of the gun guys at the counter who is into PRS said they have sold about 11 of them in both 308 and 6.5 CM and the guys that have bought them have had positive experiences with the Solus.

Now a salesman is exactly that regardless of commission or not. Those of you who have a Solus what is your opinion on them.

The last bolt gun I owned was probably 10 years ago or so. I had a Rem 700 LTR in 308. I hane a 15 1/2 inch LOP so I put it in an AICS Chassis system from Mile High Shooting as they used to be a sponsor here. It’s been so long since I was a member here that the Mega 10 AR was the latest and greatest. I had a NF NXS that I also bought from another site sponsor so it’s been a while and a lot has changed. I sold that Rem 700 set up years ago.

So those of you that own them what do you think? I will probably end up with a FFP of some sort like a Razor for and optic and an Atlas bipod or the likes. and with a 1:10 twist 20 inch barrel there are plenty of 308 ammo options besides FGGM like the Hornady ELD Match.

SOLD ***SOLD***Protech Rockeye Operator

I have a Protech Rockeye Operator in great condition. This is the CPM D2 version. The knife has been carried a few times and there are a few small nicks on a couple corners and a couple handling marks along the aluminum. Nothing major and the blade was never used. See pics. The blade has the sharp factory edge and is free of any marks. Fires like a rocket as you can expect from Protech. Comes in the factory box with the pouch.

WW2 German G43 DUV 44 with original ZF4 3 post , original sling , this rifle is all matched including lumber , never seen any bubba'ery , no import marks , matching right to the bolt lugs ,original patina , mirror bore ive had it for what must be 30+ years now , recently found out it was never previously documented by the folks at the k98k forum , which makes sense , ive had it since before the internet and cell phones were a thing , they had a documented rifle that was 4 digits off from mine , i believe it was 4 rifles newer so probably ended up in the same crate from the factory, the scope is original , the mount is a very early repro very well made and correct , one of these days will find a original that is priced right
