LMT Barrel conversion review and accuracy report, before conversion vs. after D Wilson conversion

I'm going to post a quick review, as I was unable to find much information relating to LMT barrel conversion accuracy, specifically relating to how a barrel performed before sending it to D Wilson for conversion versus post conversion results.

I'm happy to say accuracy seems unchanged following the barrel conversion, which is to say it is very good.

I used the exact same ammunition, loaded on the same day with the same lots of components. This is hand loaded 77 grain Sierra match king, but other ammunition from AAC produced repeatable results as well. All groups were 10 rounds fired at 100 yards.

The barrel I'm focusing on today is a 16" Bartlein 223 from Craddock Precision. Prior to sending it off, I fired this group from a mocked up traditional AR upper:

I just came back inside from firing this group post D Wilson conversion:

That high shot was my first round, some of that might have been me, dealing with 20-30 mph wind and I'm not necessarily a precision shooter. That said, I'm very pleased with the results. I wanted to document my very unscientific findings, just in case anyone was curious.

Firearms K&P 32” 375 RUM barrel for TL3 SA w/ brass, dies, 390gr A-Tips etc

K&P 32” 1:8 twist 375 RUM barrel for TL3 short action. Muzzle threaded 3/4x20. 1.35” diameter shank for ~5.5” and then tapered to 1.1”. Has flats machined into the barrel for easy changing with switch barrel setup. Chambered by Michael DeLoach of 9 Run Gun. Weighs 8lbs 7oz. Also, comes with a custom tuner brake that was made for it.

You read that right. Poor man’s Cheytac. This is a 375 RUM barrel that I had cut for my TL3 short action to shoot ELR. If you are looking for the most affordable way to get into ELR, no question this is it. This barrel shoots the 390gr A-tip at ~ 2820fps w/ 105.3gr N570 into ~1/2 MOA (see pic below shot at 300 yards). Before I did this I called Zermatt and Ray said go for it, the action can handle it…so I did. Supersonic to 2450 yards at a DA of 5000ft…I got greedy and wanted even more out of it, and had it throated a little longer but it didn’t like it. SAMMI spec was fine, so I set the barrel back an inch (from 33” down to 32”) and now it has a fresh chamber in it that I’ve never even shot. I suspect it will be just like it was before…which was awesome.

Hornady Dies with micrometer seater.

74 pieces of Norma Brass. Started life as 300 RUM and necked up for 375 RUM as well as 50 pieces of new unfired ADG 375 RUM head stamped brass.

275 390gr A-tips.

Want to sell as a package. Will sell the A-Tips separately if someone buys the barrel etc.

$950/shipped for everything

Thanks,

Chase

Rifle Scopes High scope mount needed.

Anyone know of a good scope mount that is around 1.8” height with zero MOA slope? My Accuracy International AX50 has a really high cheek riser and using a 1.5” high mount is too low for proper eye placement.

I really like the Spuhr SP-4024 mount but nobody has the older version with both rings having 6 screws, I really don’t like the SP-4024C version.

Any suggestions on a High Mount that has 6 screws per ring with zero MOA slope and atleast 1.7” high? It’s got to be able to take the blast from a 50 BMG.

Thanks for you input.

Hello purchased this as a back up and decided I don’t need it anymore.
Bought it here on the hide. Has DI Precision Windage turret, Ranger Wrap to keep it protected, and turret tape which can be easily removed.

Swaro 15x SLc
Skypod Double pull+ Cash

For an extra $100 I’ll send it with the Area 419 match rings. The one piece mount I am keeping for my 3-18.

There is a small blem on the objective that was on there when I bought it. Red arrow points to what I’m talking about in the pic below. That tidbit wasn’t disclosed to me prior to purchase but I am making it known.
The blem is not visible when looking through the scope.

Neck Tension Inconsistencies on Lapua 6.5CM Brass

I cant for the life of me figure out why I have so much inconsistency in neck tension with this brass. This is 2 times fired brass in the same chamber (howa), annealead with an AMP, then sized through a forster full length sizer with 262 ball. All necks brushed with graphite and bodies lubed with die wax before sizing. I see the inconsistency with my mandrel checker, and in the arm of the arbor press while seating. What is changing so much that I cant see, that is affecting this neck tension?

Rifle Scopes Tikka T3 Tac A1 - scope mount recommendations

I’ll get right to brass tacks here.

I recently purchased a used Tikka t3x tac a1 (chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor). With the purchase, a Sig Sauer Tango6 5-30x scope was included. However, as seen in the picture, it also came with some no name scope rings that I’d like to replace.

I’ve scoured lots of different forums but the mount recommendations seem to change over time, so looking for some fresh suggestions. I’d like to stay below $300 if possible (I know Spuhr comes up as consistently the best, but $600 for a mount is just a bit much right now.). Only consistency is minimum is 20moa

Appreciate any advice here. Also open to other tuning/optimization upgrades/changes to the rifle for those who have experience with them.

TIA

Remington MSR / PSR bolts

I wanted to let everyone know we are working to produce some of the missing MSR/PSR parts. These are awesome rifles, but it seems like there are more chassis’s and actions than bolt bodies and other small parts.

Currently we are working on the bolt stop, bolt body, and firing pin assembly.

If anyone has knowledge about the system,
experience or connections in producing a small run of parts like this please let me know.

Please comment with which parts you need as well as the quantity.

I will keep everyone updated with the progress here as well.

The parts will be marked to indicate that they are not factory original parts. But should function and appear like the factory parts.

When we get to production, Kace at Raider Outdoors will be handling distribution in a separate post. https://raideroutdoors.com/

SOLD 300 PRC DEFIANCE Ruckus Prefit

300 PRC Prefit done up by SPR (Southern Precision Rifles) for a Defiance Ruckus or ANTI action, BARTLEIN 9 TW ,23" finish length, REM Sendero/Varmint contour, threaded 5/8 x 24. Heavy spiral fluting, black cerakote. Light handling marks on the shank from removal. Maybe 125 rounds on the barrel MAX, probably less, don't have an exact round count but its not a lot. Shoots exactly like you would expect a Bartlein to shoot chambered by a top tier smith. Didn't have it on long, ended up pulling to get a shorter barrel. Would consider trading on PROOF prefits or something similar for DEFIANCE or Bighorn actions. $350 SHIPPED. I'm including the original build sheet for reference. One thing I noticed is the finish length is wrong on the receipt. it was ordered as a 23". Couldn't decide on a 22 or 24 so I split the difference. Also including a bore scope pic of the throat, very minimal wear.

Had a Strelok pro scare last night

Yesterday I was pounding rocks and my Strelok pro was working fine as it has forever. I made a range input of 1728 and wind of 8 @ 85* and the buttons would light up orange and the app locked up.

I tried to scroll to different rifles but the app wouldn't allow it.

I was able to open the settings at the bottom of the page after several resets and doing nothing before entering the settings menu.

Once open I changed every value I could in the settings just to see if it would respond....and it did.

I was able to go back to business as usual after this work in the settings.

I just wanted to share this as I was frustrated because I was adding rifle profiles to my kestrel in the field from strelok when it crashed and of course I didn't have a hard copy with me.

Hopefully this saves someone the headache.

Sounds like Terrorist Training to me....

Bet they are training on how to mostly-peacefully protest. With molotov cocktails, intimidation, threats...

You know who had an organization just like this? Here's a hint. He was a failed painter and struggled a lot...

So if you are funding this and it does ANYTHING approaching calling for violence... 'someone' can be charged, removed from Congress, have her Naturalized Citizenship stripped... and sent back to Southwest Asia. This is one way to deal with squad members who are clearly anti-American and want to destroy us from Congress. Run by the Democratic Socialists of America.
