Handgun training drills

Hello,

I train with a Walther PDP (Gen 1, FS, 4" barrel, 15 lbs steel guide rod, Holosun 508T mounted). I consider myself a moderately decent shot but due to my eyesight, I struggle with tight groups. I do not want this to limit me and would like to train harder to become a better shot.

Please suggest some drills which help shooters improve their speed, efficiency, posture, and accuracy.

Thank you,
SS

Tikka CTR vs Bergara/AICS max OAL 6.5 CM

Considering swapping my Tikka CTR for a Bergara. Just for grins...no real reason. But I brought my buddy's Bergara home to look it over and my Tikka CTR mag just barely holds my reloads (OAL 2.925"), but they aren't even close to fitting in the Bergara magazine. 140 ELD-M bullets in prime brass with H4350 about 20 thousandths off the lands.

I assume the Tikka just has a really long freebore, but does anyone find the mag length limiting on the Bergara? I haven't been in the equipment game in a while - are there other mags that will fit in the Bergara to allow longer OAL?

40X Delta Build?

Thinking about a quick Delta 40X/T10 build. Basically a put together. Rifle, Scope, Redfield base. I could go T16. I have a few of each. If anyone knows for sure what was used, it would be good information. The rifle has the full clipslotting and I think 40X trigger. The adjustment is through the trigger shoe itself, not the screw in front. I don’t want to alter the rifle, so I wont have it parkerized. I just want an interesting way to preserve this classic target rifle.

I got the idea from this photo in the M14 SDM/DMR thread:

And this rifle from the same thread:

After seeing these, I wanted a 40X 7.62 repeater. Mine is close to USMCSGT0331’s prototype.

Unfortunately, these don’t have the barrel date codes. I’m curious when the underlining in the logo stopped. I have seen it on some 7 digit rifles, so after 1968.

Anyway, this is one of the side effects of trying to get a few M40 builds pieced together.

Howa Trigger Spring Mod Disappointment

I have a Howa mini action in 6 ARC. The HACT trigger is a very good 2 stage trigger IMO, but I felt it needed to be lighter. I backed out the tension screw and it didn’t do much to lighten trigger.

I did the mod as seen on You Tube where you cut coils off the tension spring to reduce pull weight. Well now I think the trigger kinda sucks. The first stage is very short now with a couple perceptible “bumps” in the take up vs smooth like from the factory. The 2nd stage is firm and then it breaks clean with no travel. That’s a good thing, except it still feels slightly stiff.

Anyone do the mod cutting coils off the spring? Is it normal virtually lose the first stage?

SOLD Bix n Andy Tacsport ProX trigger

Bix n Andy Tacsport ProX trigger with Gator shoe and an extra low sear. The low sear works better in most actions I've tried it in. This trigger has very little use and the sear is brand new. In great shape. Now $275 shipped and insured.

New Project: Soviet PP-19 "Bizon"

My latest project is a copy of the Soviet PP-19 "Bizon" (Buffalo) SMG.

675px-Bizon1_folded.jpg

The PP-19 Bizon (Russian: Пистолет Пулемёт Бизон, Pistolet Pulemyot Bizon, Pistol Submachine Gun "Bison") is a 9×18mm Makarov submachine gun developed in 1993 by the Russian company Izhmash. The Bizon was designed by a team of engineers headed by Victor Kalashnikov (son of engineer Mikhail Kalashnikov, creator of the AK-47) and including Alexei Dragunov (youngest son of Yevgeny Dragunov, the creator of the SVD sniper rifle).[1][2][3]

The Bizon was developed at the request of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD)[3] and is primarily intended for counter-terrorist and law enforcement units that need fast and accurate fire at close ranges. It features a distinctive helical magazine under the barrel that can hold 64 rounds. Prototypes were trialed by the Special Equipment Research Institute in 1995 where they outperformed several competitors, and the weapon was accepted into service on 28 December 1996.

The Bizon is issued to armed response units of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and Ministry of Justice in Russia. It was used in combat operations against separatists in the North Caucasus region, namely Chechnya and Dagestan.[citation needed] The Bizon has been largely replaced by the PP-19-01 Vityaz in Russian service, which was developed directly from the design of the Bizon, due to reliability issues with the helical magazine.

My copy will be slightly updated with a Zenitco handguard. It is based on the PSA AKV in 9x18 and will be SBR'ed on a Form 1, already submitted. Here is the Helical magazine and it has already been successfully teste fired. I'm waiting on the magazine catch and had to hold the magazine in place with my hand, but it worked well.

Garmin xero or ab mobile wrong?

I’m getting my rifle fine dialed for hunting season and left scratching my head comparing my Garmin xero to what ab mobile is giving me for dope. My rifle is a tikka ss 6.5prc chopped to 22” with a scythe on the end of it and I’m running factory 143eldx precision hunter. My Garmin gives me an average of about 2850 and the box says 2960 which jives with the shorter and slower tikka barrel. Out to 400yds my adjustments are dead on. Next target I reached out to is 800 yds and to get ab mobile to give me the correct elevation I had to slow down to 2780 or an extra 0.3 mil. I’m at 3200ft da for reference.

Is the garmin that far off or is there something goofy with what ab is feeding me? Also anyone ever have issues that you have to reload ab a couple times to get consistent values?

Agm 256

Sorry if this has been asked I’ve read ALOT on here warning about getting a agm 256 and how I’ll regret it . I live in central MT and an overloaded with dogs and I’m tired of torching them with a light I’ve had some friends out on the farm with extremely high end thermals and those are out of my ball park. So my question is my load is flat enough for 0-300 yds so lrf isn’t a concern. And my primary hunting is in vast stubble fields so will a 256 be sufficient if I understand it’s not a pulsar 50
