Looking to replicate an early to mid 90’s SR-25 as used by the US military. I have both an M3A ultra and the Mk4 10x but wondering what rings to use. Will M24 rings work or do I need something taller? Thanks for the help

I just put a used scope on my Remington nylon 66 and starting at 25 yards had nice groups on the bull. Moved out to 40-45 yards and the groups moved out about 3” right of the bull. Put my groups back on the bull at 40 and then at 25 it’s about 1” left of the bull. What can cause this?

Here we go. For those of you who have been around a while, you know this is something we do. For those of you who are newer, this is something we do. We all as a group give a hand to someone in need.

Story is this. Group of kids were traveling in a car and an intoxicated driver crossed the center line on a highway causing a head-on crash In Oklahoma.
A 15 yr old boy now is laying in the hospital with a major spinal cord injury. He currently is out of surgery and has some feeling and movement in his arms. Also in the crash, a 15 yr old girl in the car lost her life.

Bo Galloway is center. His father to his right.

So, we have decided we need to do something to help out. As anyone can imagine, the stress on a family in a situation like this from all angles is huge. We are going to give a little relief on the money side of things.

For those who wonder about this, I invite a couple of long term Hider's to speak to how this goes. @Strykervet and @JMGlasgow can vouch for the crew and the amazing work that the Hide as a whole can do to help out.

This barrel was picked up from PVA on a Black Friday deal. The maker of the blank is unknown by anyone but PVA (according to PVA they are unable to disclose the maker due to some contractual agreement). Only has about 400 rounds on it.

7mm08, 20”, 1-8 Twist, Light Palma, TL3 tenon, 5/8x24 muzzle threads. It was painted with Rustoleum professional enamel, and has been pretty durable on other barrels I’ve done. There is a cheap radial brake that it will come with just to protect the crown.

This came on my GAP-10, but I never used it…. looks like it has a few signs of being fired at GAP when they tuned it for the Surefire suppressor, but I’ve only shot it with my TB can on it. I’d rather trade for two TB SR muzzle brakes, but I priced it pretty fair for what I’ve seen them going for online. Shipping is $8 USPS, and I take just about any form of payment.

Here is the story of my redneck/cheapskate SPR Not saying you have to do the same this is just what I did and the results.

It did not start as an SPR build. I ran across a stripped brownells lower for cheap. So I got it with no idea what I was going to do.

Fast forward several months perhaps a year. I decided to make a coyote/hunting rifle. Since I was not using it for CQB etc I got a cheap A2 stock and inexpensive lower build kit. I did get a CMC trigger, more on that later.

Well for the upper. I wanted a 20 inch barrel free floated. Why? Because I wanted the velocity and free floated barrel.

After looking around I got a Bear Creek upper with 18 inch barrel. Why 18? Because they didn't have a 20 in stock. This was supposed to be MOA guarantee. The barrel came in and it looked fine with a bolt carrier stamp MPI.

Now people will hammer me for getting a Bear Creek but I got a complete upper for less than I could get all the parts etc minus the barrel and put it together. If it shot like crap I could pull the barrel off accurate the upper with my tool and get a better barrel.

Optics. I had an old Leupold VX2 3-9x 40 laying around. Slapped it on. Good enough for what I was going to do.

I had it a few months and realized I had built an SPR rifle aka cheap skate version. Remember folks SPR/MK-12 is a concept not a parts list. If you are a clone type good for you. Go for it. I was just throwing together an AR for yots and the range not a combat tour.

Results. Its been a couple years. It will keep 1-1.5 MOA with good match ammo. You cant expect to put crap ammo through any barrel and get good results. Oh yea this thing has NEVER jammed on me. More than I can say for the M-16s I had in the Army.

The CMC trigger went to crap. It became soft and mushy and occasionally would not reset. I contacted them and they immediately sent me a return order. I got busy and pulled it out slapped in a stock trigger that came with my kit.

Its been a few months and I did not get around to sending it in yet and lost the paperwork. That is on me, I can not fault them. Now that I have it out I might call them and explain I am a dumb ass. I find it comical the one high quality part I put in failed. Again They were very responsive I don't want any misgivings to come across about them.

Lessons-

1. I am a cheap bastard. No secret there.
2. Your best accessory is ammo and trigger time.
3. Sometimes good enough is good enough. My complete build was around $500 if my memory serves me correctly.
4. You don't need a sub MOA rifle for everything. Yea I have a couple built rifles including a tac ops. Think of it this way. A human head is about 6 inches. A crap 2 MOA gun is a head shot at 300 yards. Be realistic. Very few true sub MOA rifle exist meaning they will do it consistently ie every time with the right ammo.

Anyway if you want to build a rifle but cant afford a top end perhaps you can get something cheaper that will get the job done. A lot of people here will disagree and say you have to put a mortgage payment or two for a gun then the same for the optic but just get something and get to shooting. Enjoy what you got instead of dreaming about something. The shooter is the most important part of the equation start building your skills now not in 10 years.

Well that's it from me. Hope I didn't hurt any feeling. No wait, I don't care. Just some feedback from an old man that may get some young guys out shooting instead of dreaming and and away from the keyboard.

I’m having an issue where my WFT trimmer is leaving a scratch ring around the brass just above where it sits inside of the collet. I’ve buffed the inside with my Dremel and can’t see or feel any burrs. Has anyone had this issue? Any idea what may be causing it? Thanks in advance!

I’ll be adding details soon, this rifle is awesome. It’s a Surgeon scalpel in a AI Chasis with a jewel trigger and Supressor ready brake. It has only a hundred or so rounds through it. I’m pretty sure this action was from the original SURGEON brand, before they sold out to lesser quality. I’m sure we can figure that out by looking at serial number. I’ll get more details soon and post them here. This rifle is amazing, a heartbreaking sale but it needs to go. Hope someone special gets it.

I have many FX air guns coming out for sale and a .35cal ATAMAN. Pictures and details coming soon. For now, I just wanted to see if the hide has an appetite for these types of things. FX Royal 400 .22cal. The infamous Royal 400 was a main rifle for air competition for many years. Just an amazing 22.

FX Verminator w Arrow Barrel 25.cal. 940-960 fps shooting JSBs. This gun needed seals, so I sent it out to the factory in SC. it’s coming back from FX factory soon, just got tracking. I cant seem to really find any of these NON-Legion variations out there. i bought this to try and compete with and just got a ton of practice with it so yes ITS BEEN RODE HARD, but still shoots as a Sig should. 100% original just had the frame coated ghost'ish gray to mimic those Legions when they came out right after i bought this (yea its flaking from hard use, i think i had this coated maybe 5 years ago)
