Optics Holosun HS512C

Selling a lightly used Holosun HS512C optic. Unfortunately I lost the original box in a recent move, so it’s just the optic. No issues with the optic, only signs of wear are a few light marks on the rear of the sight. Asking $250 shipped

I voted today.

Got there pretty early, line wasn't too long. A guy behind me had on a Trump t shirt. I told him 'Lets try this again. Maybe they won't steal this one.' I also told him I doubt they would let him in wearing that shirt. He seemed ready with his answer and said it's protected under free speech. Yeah I know but they still will probably make you change it or turn it inside out.

Just then this liberal looking fucker with a Sierra Club cap, they have that look, came up and told him he couldn't wear that shirt. Shirt wearer recited the same line he told me, it's protected under free speech and he wasn't going to take it off. The Liberal looking hall monitor said well then he'd just call 911 and pulled his phone up. Lady behind him told him 'just go turn it inside out and vote.' The guy went in the bathroom and turned his shirt inside out and came back.

I asked the Liberal looking turd, 'So you think that t shirt was going to change Kamala voter's minds to vote for Trump at the last minute?'

Lot of old boomers wearing maga hats.

Rifle Scopes S&B Exos. 👎

Question here. It will be at the end but to give some info.

First S&B purchase. Well first time really spending any time behind one.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for a S&B that I could afford. And really wanted the EXOS moa.
Finally picked one up.

I know I’ll catch shit for this, but I always compare my NX8 4-32’s to everything. Some want to trash them, but the glass is actually excellent for what they’ve been able to accomplish with the size and amount of lenses.
Their low light is exceptional and the resolution is as well.
The complaints about tight eye box…if people would just take the rear ocular Tenebrex cover off, it completely changes the view. Night and day. It does not have a tight eye box. At all.

Anyhow, this Exos I have. Spent 3 days with it. Like full days.

The eye box is the worst on any optic I’ve ever experienced. Above 12x is super tuff to get behind.
At 21x the resolution is meh. Anything under say 1500 yards seems decent. But looking long range every other high end optic I have is better.
And the chromatic aberration is terrible.
Also, the FOV is considerably less than most all other scopes I have. Including my Kahles 525i’s.
Also see no noticeable increase in dawn/dusk light transmission over anything else I have.
And I’m very much aware on how to set focus and parallax to begin with to eliminate the above mentioned.

The build quality, turrets, illumination, etc is exceptional though. Very nice!

So brings me to my questions.
I really want to like/own an S&B. Maybe a PM2 or Polar.

But, from those who have owned or own any S&B’s, is this typical across the board? The terrible CA, the small field of view, the super tight eye box? The not the greatest resolution at extreme distance?
I can return the scope for a different model, but not sure it will get me anywhere.

I have Kahles 318/525, ATACR’s, Mark 5’s, Minox ZP5, Zeiss V8, Swaro Z6, Leica Magnus, March FX, Leica PRS etc.
All have less of the negatives than everything I mentioned above.

I can’t imagine I have the one that’s slipped by S&B’s quality check.
I guess what I’m getting at is I’m extremely underwhelmed at what was supposed to be a $4k optic.

Suppressors Diligent Defense Co, the can that recently showed up at the top of the Pew’s rankings

A friend of mine tipped me off to a new manufacturer in March called Diligent Defense Co. https://diligentdefense.com/

There isnt a ton written about them since they just opened in January, but they've been in the form 1 kit business for a while.

Tbac did include one of their cans in a recent 300blk sbr sound test which they posted here on the hide, but there wasn't any discussion about them. Most surprising about Diligent was the fact that the largest of their cans, the Enticer L Ti, topped the shooters ear rankings on Pewscience.com using a supersonic .308.

They make basically four cans in 7.62mm. Two different lengths (8.25" and 7.75") in steel or titanium construction. all are 1.625" in diameter, and all have HUB rear threads. The features and performance come at a very reasonable price point as well. a Ti L without a mount and mill finish is $905. For comparison, the DA Nomad LT is $1100, and a Thunder Beast Ultra 9 is about the same as the DA. I appreciate light weigh small POI shift cans, and these appear to match the Tbac in that regard, see below.

I’m most interested in the Ti variants for precision rifle, so I got one of each. The Ti cans are extremely light at 7.7 and 9.6 ounces without a mount. Both have symmetrical blast baffles, asymmetrical baffles in the center of the stack, and the forward most baffle is symmetrical. I'm no suppressor designer, so i'm sure there are design elements i'm missing. The end caps thread on and center up via a steep taper, which is unique in my experience. The end caps have a flash suppression feature as well, which I haven't tested. All of their cans are are rated to 300 WM with a 10.5" barrel.

The finish shown below is called “Mill Finish”. They're also available in black and FDE for additional cost. They can also be had with no mount for some additional savings for those that are already vested in another mount system.

While I don't do a lot of social media, check them on Instagram, they're pretty sporty. They also have some funny T-shirts.

Its hard to make a can unique and interesting externally, but these are definitely attractive.

I probably should have put some rounds through them before this, as both blew some goo onto my labradar, and may have caused some deviation on the first shot of the L. I added some rounds to the L string because of it. All were shot with area 419 universal adapters and mounts, and no zero changes were made between cans. The grid spacing on the target is .1 mil. I’m pleased that there was so little shift between them and the Tbac U7/30, which is zeroed on this rifle. They both appear accurate. Very rudimentary test of course. Sound performance was good, with the S being slightly quieter than the U7, and I couldn't really tell the difference between the Gen 1 338U and the L Ti. I spent some time spinning around in circles and shooting into distant hillsides to try and isolate the character of each without terrain reverberations. The 338 U must be quieter using telemetry, I just couldn't hear it.

1654182496375.jpeg

I’ll get some more testing in as time allows. Diligent appears to have made a very solid entrance into the ultra light Ti can market for precision shooting. If one doesn't care about weight, the steel Enticer L with no mount is $600.

Full disclosure I am a dealer, but NOT a hide seller so don't ask. I also did this review independent of Diligent. Hit up your local dealer and have them contact Diligent. Very easy for them to set up an account via the website and order in a suppressor for you. Below is a dealer list with existing dealers, but this isn't a complete list.

300-600 yard optic?

Got invited to start shooting steel @ 300-600 yards at my buddies club. I didn't have anything capable (my mini 30 is a joke for accuracy) and I primarily shoot AR22's at 50-100 yards.

So I ended up un-dedicating one of my AR lowers and found and bought (I'm ready to get flamed for this) ...a BCA 223 Wylde, 20" heavy, unthreaded barrel. Being in NY, having the barrel unthreaded is one less thing to address for making it featureless... anyway, $235 delivered, it gets me into trying distance on the cheap.

Next up is an optic. For the meantime I'm going to use a Burris Fullfield E1, 4.5-14, but I want a dedicated scope, I will probably will buy something after the holidays. I do try to stay away from China stuff if I can, but it's not always avoidable.

Anyway, I'm going between the arken sh4 and the swfa 10x... leaning towards the swfa. I don't need, or honestly want all the bells and whistles. I like the idea of simple and durable. I understand the swfa is dated, but still pertinent, and I've heard good things about the sh4.

I realize they are 2 very different scopes, but in the price range I'm looking for, those 2 appeal to me most.

Just looking for opinions, or possibly other options to look at that I haven't discovered. My budget for this set-up is about $500 delivered, including a decent mount.

Thanks!
DW

5.56 accuracy

I have a psa with an 18” 1:7 ba barrel. I would like to make it shoot tighter with off the shelf ammo. If I got a 20” 1:8 would it be more forgiving with different types of ammo. It does ok with heavier stuff but is not consistently as accurate as some of my other rifles. It has a decent trigger and fits the lower tight. It’s pictured with my 20” 22-250 that shoots great

Armalite AR10A TAC 18

I’ve never really been one to do reviews. If you’re expecting @bigjake83 , @LRRPF52 , or @sinister level info or details you’re gonna be disappointed. I don’t take a lot of pics, the ones I take are crappy, and I have poor grammer.

So any time people ask about large frames I usually recommend buying from a company with a track record of building accurate, reliable large frames. I’ve built a few good shooting 308’s and still have one home build. In the world of large frames I believe factory guns are better for most people since the good companies develope and test their systems. I like, own, and shoot LMT MWS’s, Seekins SP10’s, and Armalite AR10’s. I feel like the Armalites are better than 90% of the factory large frames on the market and recommend them a lot. I don’t know how but PSA has been blowing out both large and small frame Armalites for months now. I’ve had a B series for years and figured I’d pick up an A since they were so cheap.

Here’s the product description and specs on PSA’s site.

I cleaned, lubed, removed the brake, added a Surefire 3 prong, attached my Atlas bipod, borrowed a scope and mount from another of my rifles, and headed to our property to see how it shot.
424FE774-6E3B-4F3A-AA42-2F40D58F2BB6.jpeg

I shot 4 different types of ammo. I didn’t have a ton of time so I didn’t take pics of all the groups. I tend to shoot my gas guns faster than most do while shooting groups. I break a shot, follow through, and as soon as the reticle settles back on target, break the next shot. I don’t usually wait for a cool down. I tend to find out fairly quickly if the gun strings shots or chokes when it heats up. Everything I shot today was at 100 yards prone. Atlas bipod and a rear squeeze bag.

I got a rough zero and just plinked a box of federal xm80 away. No malfunctions. The gun had a soft recoil impulse so I didn’t mess with the gas block. For those who care, 4:30 ejection. Brass piled up about 5’ away. Roughly 2.5-4 moa groups from 2.5-4 moa ammo. Cool

I had half a box of 168gr Black Hills Red box ammo. This ammo has always shot well in my LMT guns. It usually produces .8-1.2 moa groups from the chrome lined LMT barrels. 5 shot groups from the Armalite were about the same, one .75 and one 1 moa. No malfunctions. 4:00 ejection pattern. Didn’t adjust the gas.

Next up was Hornady 168ELDM Match. No joke, 3 moa 5 shot groups. I shot 2 groups and quit with this ammo. 4:00 ejection. No malfunctions.

Last ammo I shot was Hornady Black 168gr AMAX. I shot a 5 round group that was about .7 moa. I figured I’d give myself and the rifle a good challenge and loaded up a 20 round mag and shot 1 20 round group. 4:00 ejection. No malfunctions.

Pic of target.

DE8D5370-3793-435A-AD86-664EF36C38C1.jpeg

Shots marked 14-17, 4 of the first 5 fired in the group. They we’re from a different box of ammo. I checked and they were from different lots. To me, this explains the 2 distinct groups within the 20 shot string.

So, I’m happy with the gun for what it cost me. This was just an initial impression. It’s only 65 rounds at this point. If it’s like my other Armalite, it should maintain this level of accuracy and reliability. I’ll update the thread when I get more data and will get more pics along the way.
