Here we go Again! (FSU Shooting in Tallahassee)

Apparently, they're still sorting it out. No real confirmation on the number of casualties but there were some. According to the latest report, there were two shooters. One is in custody and the other was "neutralized" at the scene. Looks like they'll have a presser at about 4pm. We'll see.

Ballistic App issue

So I,m about to pull my hair out. I have two identical 22 rifles set up. Both zeroed at 50 yards. I have triple checked all of the info that I am inputting in three different apps (4Dof, Strelock, AB) and checked the chart that I found online. All the apps show around a 6.6 MOA correction for a 100 yard shot. Both rifles actually only require a 2 MOA adjustment for a 100 yard shot. And if you shoot at 100 yards on zero the impact is about 2 inches low. Shooting CCI standard velocity 40g ammo over a garmin avg 1090fps using a BC of .122 When you true the info it adjusts to like 1600fps and we know that aint right. You cant even adjust the BC enough to make the number align. Ultimately the guns are doing what I want them to, I just want to understand where I messed up.

Thanks

SOLD Nightforce 4-16x42 F1 ATACR Mil-XT

This is an excellent shape 4-16x42 F1 ATACR w/ the Mil-XT reticle.

Sold the rifle this was on, hardly shot it.

One small mark on the tube towards the mag ring, otherwise it’s pretty perfect. Glass is perfect, everything is in working order and this copy tracks perfect from my tests.

Issues with Kidd Build

over the past year i have collected parts and built a full kidd 22, (no stock parts left) bedded in a boyds pro varmint. i went a real roundabout way, replacing parts as i could rather than buying a barreled action. My issue now is feeding; i have tried half a dozen types of ammo, new mags, old mags, all three recoil springs, and i am still having feed issues. is there anything i can do or do i contact Kidd?

It struggles to feed the first round and shaves bullets almost every time. This not only causes feed issues, but super inconsistent groups past 25 yards. I think it is clearly an alignment issue, but not sure how it happened. Seems like the feed angle is too steep.

Have tried Wolf match extra, SK Pistol match, SK Rifle match, cci green tag, aguila gold eagle match, and some bulk box ammo. It doesn't really seem to matter what i use, it all struggles to seat the first round all the way to battery and then chokes eventually. everything seems to eject fine, but the feed is killing me.

Does Mile high have the best customer service?

I think they might.

I ordered a Magnus back in July and I didn’t call them to pester them for when it might come in but once or twice because I don’t want to be “that guy“. But each time they’re like “no problem man we get these calls all the time.”

Then I got a shipping notice a week ago, but it didn’t really contain a lot of information so I called to make sure they had my SOT on file and they did and we’re very nice and helpful again

The can was intended for a bear hunt next week and obviously will not arrive in time so I got to reading about the Magnus and since it is going on a magnum caliber, I would probably be better off having the full-size rather than the “S” especially since I decided the ultra seven I have is a better suppressor for my hunting needs. So I called them again to see where it was in the system and if it was already on a form 3 or whatever and the guy went down and found that it was about to ship out, but he said “no problem. We can cancel that order. Not a problem at all.”

I honestly wonder if it’s not already on a form 3 and it’s gonna be a pain to cancel the order - we shall see

But regardless, they have to be some of the most pleasant guys to interact with whenever I call them on the phone and they will preferentially receive my business for everything I need in the future

Firearms Badger 300 Norma improved

Up for sale is a Badger Ordnance M2013 long action, proof research 28 inch barrel (100 rounds on it) and a trigger tech diamond flat face trigger. Only the barrel action is for sale. The manners stock is inletted for the Badger but the bottom metal is incorrect and I don’t want that to become someone else’s problem. We can work something out for the stock if you are interested . Rifle is chambered in 300 Norma Magnum Improved and will come with a muzzle break, not the suppressor device. This will also come with 45 pieces of fire formed brass (lapua) and 100 pieces of 423 Dakota brass (lapua). If you neck turn them the 423 Dakota can be used for the Norma improved. Will also come with the reamer, go/no go gauge, Whidden die set for 300 NMI, and 338 Norma dies for resizing 300 Norma brass for fire forming. Rifle is a tac driver but I’m going in a different direction. Thanks for looking! $3,000 for the whole package.

Magazines for LA Weatherby 6.5 PRC in MDT XRS or LSS-XL

I reached out to MDT, but haven't heard back from them yet, maybe it's holiday weekend, so I'm turning to the collective minds here

I have a factory Weatherby Vanguard Long Action in 6.5 PRC (I won it in a Weatherby contest!). Thinking of dropping it into an MDT XRS, or maybe LSS-XL chassis. If anyone has those Howa long action chassis, do the use the double stack/single feed mags DSSF, or single stack, single feed mags SSSF?

MDT website says Howa/Vanguard chassis work only with poly mags, but they don't specifically say for SA and LA. But I know their statement is not entirely true. I have a Weatherby 6.5CM in a MDT short action LSS-XL chassis and I notched out the front of DSSF metal mags so they seat fully in the well, and they feed fine.

Thx

Devildog Hog 6.5 Creedmoor feed problem. Ideas?

Bought rifle used a month ago. I immed noticed feed & eject problems with several Hornady ammo types, but Hornady Match seemed to work ok. That's now changed. Hornady Match no longer feeds or ejects reliably. As you read the symptoms, keep in mind that symptoms have gotten progressively worse over the last month of prob 60rds fired. Ideas from the brain trust?

Symptoms:

1) The pic below shows the part I'm talking about. As I understand it, that bit is the (I'm making up the name) positive feed case rim grabber. To my surprise, it flops in and out of position, vs. having any spring behind it that might keep it flush with the bolt face or proud of the bolt face. Sometimes it seems to grab a rim, sometimes it stays rearward and doesn't grab the rim, sometimes it goes proud and the case sits not on the face of the bolt but on top of the forward rim grabber. Spring missing?

2) Rounds don't want to chamber all the way in. Sometimes I can see them hanging on the case rim grabber and therefore not seating back against the bolt face, but sometimes the rear of the case seems to fit against the face fine but the bolt is still reluctant to go the last little bit forward so that it can then be rotated down. To be clear, the bolt won't rotate down into place when feeing a round. Sometimes the case looks to be properly positioned under the rim grabber, sometimes it's sitting on top of the rim grabber--but either way, that bolt isn't gonna rotate.

If every round was sitting on top of the forward (proud) positioned rim grabber, that would explain ammo getting shoved too deep into the chamber, but since many of the cases don't appear to get stuck on top of a proud rim grabber, but instead the case's rim is properly seated under it, I worry that I'm looking at more than one issue.

3) Once the round is fed such that the bolt is forward, but won't rotate down, now the bolt won't go rearward w/o a gentle tap with a rubber mallet. Like maybe the rim grabber has a good grip on the round, but the round doesn't want to come out.

I called Devildog so see if they might have some insights, but they're not answering their phones nor responding to emails. They also don't make the Hog anymore.

Bolt does fine with no ammo. Symptoms same with both mags. using a chamber brush, I cleaned the heck out of the chamber area. There's no failure of the cartridge to move forward from mag to chamber, it's the last couple mm of round insertion that is the problem. Rounds eject fine, once bolt gets bonked open.

I'm thinking the rifle needs to go a smith. Be good to have some insights tho.
