Shot timer training

Is anybody using a shot timer when training? I’m thinking not of timed stages but using it more like a time standard for training purposes. I needed to get a shot timer for pistol anyway and was looking for feedback if anyone is using it this way. If so, are you using a specific timer or feature that I should be aware of since I don’t have much experience using a shot timer. TIA

Dangerous religious separatist arrested for reading a book

Yep a Quaker pulled over during a storm , decided to read a book. And the police were called , and once they realized the severity of his crimes - reading a book and heading to a religious retreat they went into beast mode and arrested him for public safety. Good work boys .

I totally get the concern that he had “stuff” in his car like a power cord . No telling the shenanigans he could get up to with a book and a power cord on top of being a Quaker

Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

I have a fair bit of experience shooting suppressed, but until recently, I've never felt compelled to own a suppressor. I've always thought that shooting suppressed was more of a pain in the butt than it was worth.

I have, however, reached the point where I'm thinking that it doesn't make sense not to invest in a few. In any case, I have a couple of them coming. The big question that I have bouncing around in my head now is the attachment method.

It was my intention to just go direct thread, but the YHM srx system seems pretty cool. In my research, I've run across comments made by reviewers wherein they noted that the choice of mounting system can affect the sound of the report to the extent that it can make the difference between the report being painful to the ear and not.

Have any of you experienced this?

Slugging barrels......Don't F'in do things like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The owner of the rifle felt it wasn’t shooting good enough. He thinks the steel isn’t good. So, he decided to make his own bushing and put it on a cleaning rod and push it down the bore to check the barrel. He feels there are tight spots in it. I’ll guarantee you that he scored the tops of the lands. Barrel is guaranteed junk now.
Any lint, dirt, carbon particles etc.... will get forced between the slug and the bore and your going to do damage. Worse yet.... a steel bushing was made and to what spec it was made to and your pushing it down the bore. Nothing but a disaster here.

Nothing in his email about how he’s cleaning it, how many rounds on it… how it’s shooting etc… not to mention what the diameter/spec he made his custom steel bushing to in order to check the bore.

Yes.... No warranty being given.

I'm refraining from using very choice words right now!

Hunting & Fishing Camouflage clothing / over clothing options

I am looking for inexpensive but effective camo pants and jacket that are designed to wear over clothes. I am thinking something like a leafy suit or the mesh base to it. I prefer the mesh style vs the leafy style because I have ordered a few inexpensive leafy suits and the materials used in the leaf part has been shiny / reflective. I would like to keep the cost down as this is not going to be my primary hunting clothing. It needs to be light in weight and bulk to pack easily and well vented to stay cool. It will be used year round, so I prefer more grays, tans, & light browns vs deep greens. Thank you in advance.

ELDM lot-to-lot variation

I'm shooting the 108gr ELDM from a 6mmGT in a Brux barrel. I tested loads with one particular box to check if my barrel liked the bullet - shot 3x 10rd groups around 0.5-.0.6 MOA group size (0.05 - .06MRAD mean radius). Seemed all good, so I purchased 1000 bullets of a different production lot, and now I'm getting 10rd group sizes around 0.9-1+ MOA (mean radius 0.07+ MRAD) with that lot.

This is pretty frustrating, all I can pin it on is lot-to-lot variation in the bullets - the 1K I bought coming from a lot where, for whatever reason, the quality of the bullets is lower.

Anyone else seen a degree of lot-to-lot variation like this?

If that's the problem, what can be done about it? Really hard to test a production lot before buying the same lot in bulk with the market conditions these days
