Precision Rifle Gear Bipods?

Whats everyone using for a doall bipod?

Obviously, lightweight and sturdy enough to shoot accurately?

Not sure it matters but will be using a arca mount, and rifles would be a seekins element, seekins slam, would use in mountains hunting, from a tree stand, and bench when shooting 100-300

Firearms APEX Gunworks 223 AI

I bought this several years back but haven’t taken it out yet. I bought it from a guy in northern CO. He shot some matches with it and used it as a practice rifle. Can’t remember the round count but I believe it was in the 800s. He said it still shot very well. Don’t have any load data.

It’s in a bergara action and chassis. 7 twist. 28” long. A heavy barrel contour. 5/8 24 thread. The scope, mounts and bipod are not included.

$1200 shipped firm

Norma vs. Lapua Brass for .300 Norma Magnum?

I’ve been shooting 300 Norma Magnum using Norma brass and have achieved good, consistent results.

However, I’ve seen many shooters praising Lapua brass, mentioning better durability, tighter consistency, and more reload cycles.

Right now, Lapua brass is nearly 3.25 times the price I’m currently paying for Norma.

For those who’ve tried both, do you feel Lapua brass significantly improves performance or brass longevity enough to justify such a steep price difference?

I’m especially curious about real-world experiences in terms of case life, consistency, accuracy, and any measurable improvements you’ve noticed.

PS: I used Alpha or Lapua for all other cartridges and using Norma first time with 300 Norma Mag

Thinking about "chipping" your pet? Look what it did to ours!

Thinking about getting your pet "chipped?" This is what it did to our dog when we got her chipped two weeks ago. This is what it looked like one day after we discovered it and began treating the abscess. Of course, we discovered it festering under her long hair on a Sunday, so that required a trip to the emergency vet clinic. I'm all for the idea of chipping, but in practice, it seems to have some flaws. Common sense dictates that when you inject something into your body that doesn't belong there, you body may reject it unless it was done under ideal conditions. Of course, vets don't tell you this while they push this wonderful new innovation in pet ownership. As a matter of fact, the vets who saw this told us they have never seen anything like this before. (Keep in mind, these are the people who make money selling this procedure.)

Though I'm not a vet, I would suggest that before you decide to expose your pet to this, you start asking questions of your vet and see if they are honest with you about it. Also, shave the small area around where the chip will be inserted so you can monitor the area for problems.

We were finally told that this could even happen months to years after the chip was inserted, and if the chip had to be removed, it was a nasty procedure. Hmmm.. I wonder how they new this?

Hunting & Fishing 2025 Filled Tags / Grip & Grins

2025 is here boys.

No Grip & Grin here, hunting by myself.
Punched my IL turkey tag.
250mm beard, 22mm spurs. Unknown weight. Having BBQ pulled turkey for dinner.

IL assigns 5-7 day “seasons” beginning April 14th in the North zone. I’m working Mid shift right now and drew the short straw in the tag lottery; wound up with a 1st season tag and scheduled to work all 5 days of the season. Sat on Monday morning but there wasn’t much for gobbling so I quit early and went home to bed. Yesterday was rainy and super high winds, so I didn’t go out and went to bed. I got off work this morning, changed into my camo in the locker room, and rushed out there angry I was missing first light/fly-downs. While I was getting out of the truck I heard a gobble, looked over and saw this Tom crossing the road about 200 yards down. Tossed out my Jake/Hen decoys 60 yards from the truck sat down and hit a few cuts and a yelp. Didn’t even have time to load my shotgun before he came sprinting into the decoys. I got out of the truck at 6:40, he was beating the hell out of my Jake decoy and flopping on the ground by 6:45.

Good luck all in 2025!

Subsonic .223 loads

I am interested in a subsonic load for home defense. I have researched the subject and there are a number of opinions. From what I understand, the lighter weight bullets will not cycle and they are single shot only, whereas the heavier bullets have a better chance at normal operation. I have some 77gr SMK and some 85gr Barn Burner bullets. I have a plan to work up, or work down, a load but I think it would involve too many rounds and a lot of time. So, without having to re-invent the wheel, does anyone have a load they have used that cycles the gun properly and remains subsonic? I have a .223 suppressor, and the gun is a 10.5 inch AR pistol. Before I get hate mail and too many other options for gun type and caliber, this is my plan and I would like to see it through. If my testing does not produce a viable round then I will look for alternatives. Thanks for you help.

Suppressor and BC

Dumb question about cans and BC, but wanted to ask before I head out and do something stupid.

Will a can, properly installed and sized, have any affect on the BC of a bullet? I'm hoping to get time on the AB mobile lab here soon at a match and want to get a CDM for a gun I'll be shooting 95% suppressed, but it's not the gun I'm shooting in the match so my can will be on that match gun. Hoping to avoid switching things around match day if there's no need.

Trump may offer money and a free plane ticket to illegals to self deport.

I'm not wild about bribing criminals, thats like countries paying the Vikings or Mongols not to attack them, and a sign of weakness. I don't like it at all.

However, it might be cheaper and more realistic than having ICE round them up because at the current rate, they're not being captured and deported at near the rate they're reproducing and multiplying.

I'm just afraid it will be large amounts of money spent with half-ass results. How about arrest illegals and confiscate and sell everything they own as an incentive to leave on their own.
