I noticed that Minox has discontinued this scope, no idea as to why since it looks like a good bit of kit. It appears to have 1/5mil adjustments and illumination. I just noticed one for sale so If anyone here has one I'd love your opinion of it. Thanks, BP

coldboremiracle - A little searching around on here suggests that you might have this scope on the rifle you put together for your son. I could be wrong about that but if you get this notification I'd appreciate your thoughts on the scope assuming you do have one. Strangely there is almost no info online about this model, and with it now discontinued it's as though it never existed.

Yes, I do have a couple of them. I got a good deal so I snagged a couple. I have run them on AR's for short range stuff, and on the Desert Tech MDR for medium range stuff which I liked very much. But the majority of the time I have behind the scope is on colboremiracle Jr's rifle. I chose to put the Minox on his gun for a couple reasons; First I needed a scope i could mount low to get the rifle to fit him well. And second, I wanted something with a lower magnification range, we all know how hard it is to get a kid to find a deer on a far ridgeline, and the lower power on this Minox made it easier for Junior to see what we were shooting at across these canyons. Also the little Minox has proven itself reliable when it comes to return to zero, accurate come ups, etc. And even at 6X I have found it quite easy to make first round hits with this gun at 6 and 700 yards. Junior has had similar luck, he killed his first buck last year at 490 yds, one and done. His first elk was killed last year as well, at 540 yards. He killed another buck last month at 325 yards, a particularly difficult shot at VERY last light, up a very steep and miserable hill. Two shots, and two hits. This little scope has been hauled all over the western Rockies, dropped a couple times, dialed back and forth, and never skipped a beat. I couldn't be happier with it (but now I want a ZP-8:confused: ) Ive attached a video from Jr's hunt last year (at bottom of post) you can see how well this little combo works.

Thanks for that mate - amazing scenery and videos! My Minox should arrive tomorrow - will be going on a short barrelled Tikka .308 - keen to see what it can do. Cheers, BP

In something of a strange twist the scope arrived this morning - mounted it - glass is simply outstanding at this price point. The turrets on my scope however seem 'backwards' - that is if I attempt to dial 'up' 4.0 mils the turret will correspond with the number '8' - am I missing something or did the Minox engineer skip his morning coffee on this one :) coldboremiracle - does your scope exhibit the same issue?

That's some beautiful country in those videos.. I'd love to hunt country like that... Great shooting by your son as well, great to see the kids enjoying the hunting and shooting sport.

I'm thinking of contacting Minox to see if I can get a replacement turret sent to me - can you confirm that your example doesn't have this problem? Thanks

Pretty sure there were/are a large amount of fakes from China being sold. If you bought it from a regular gun shop I wouldn't be too concerned but if bought form Used Guns, etc. than maybe?

I'm the second owner, the first owner bought it from a reputable gun shop and has all the receipts. All the pictures of the mil version of this scope I can find online show the turret incorrectly positioned. I'm beginning to wonder if they we're all shipped with this defect - it could explain the extremely short lifespan of this model line.

I have the same scope in 3-15. I contacted Minox about the issue a few months ago. They verified that there was a marking problem with the earlier scopes in this series, but no longer have replacement turrets available. The scope tracks correctly so I just made a label to re-number the turrets correctly from Custom Turret Systems.

Good stuff, I think I'll likely go down the same route with creating a custom label. Minox got back to me with the same info re the turret malfunction. This shouldn't be too difficult to resolve. Ciao

Just an update for guys with this scope. I got my labels from CTS on. The CS from them was fantastic. Easy way to fix the labeling.

That looks like a tidy solution. I contacted Minox asking if they would send me a properly marked turret, they replied that the scope was no longer in production but that they could offer me a replacement from the new ZXi line of scopes. I am pretty darn impressed with the CS from Minox and more than pleased with my new scope, a ZX5i 3-15x56 - now perched on my .223.
