Does anyone know if Christenson Arms makes a long action 338LM that has a .750 bolt diameter? Also, what thread pitch do they use. Appreciate it.

Join the contest SubscribeYeah I'll do that. They have (like Savage) a relatively cheaper 338LM setup. I doubt it also but worth contacting them. I saw a Curtis Valor on sale for about 1300 that looks pretty enticing. I believe that the Stiller's are a little cheaper than that. Just trying to find a donor action for a build, but it'd be nice if I could shoot the 338LM also. You’ll have to contact them but I doubt they run a larger action than the regular LA.

I'm fairly new to ELR calibers and this 338 Edge delivers some good performance from a standard magnum action. If you were to choose from the plethera of .30 cal overperformers, and you could push the 250gr Atip to 3200+, would you still choose the Edge? You can beat 338 lapua performance with a standard magnum boltface.
338 edge.
Just reading stories on the net. Some of it plausible and some of it folks probably dreaming. Long 28" plus barrels in 300PRC+P and Sherman magnum calibers are coming close with 3000+. The speeds that I saw that were 3200+ were built on a Lapua bolt, chambered in 30XC. Anyway, thanks for turning me onto this 338Edge, I read it's like a poor man's LM and I can pretty easily build it into a Savage single feed, long barreled beast. I like the idea of utilizing a standard long action.Who’s pushing 250 grains at 3200?
30/378? 300rum?
I do push 265 grain solids at a bit over 3000 with the edge.
My 338LM; can push a 250 berger at 3222 fps, with 101 grains of H1000 (3.68 COAL). It kicks harder than my 300 grain bergers. (using Petersen brass on my 15 lb rifle); but the accuracy wasn't there.Who’s pushing 250 grains at 3200?

And it has the advantage of a bigger boreMy 338LM; can push a 250 berger at 3222 fps, with 101 grains of H1000 (3.68 COAL). It kicks harder than my 300 grain bergers. (using Petersen brass on my 15 lb rifle); but the accuracy wasn't there.
Sierra was showing 100.1 grains of H1000 (MAX LOAD) for the 250 at 3,000 fps, 100 grains for me was moving 3199 fps. I was surprised how much faster mine were moving. (it was a nice cool 90 - 94F outside)now that said... I personally don't load em that hot, since I enjoy my barrel and I found a more accurate load with the 300 grainers.
I am trying 265 badlands to see what I can get out of them. I have high hopes from Steelheads previous posts.
I love my 338LM and I'm in deep thought about a 33XC or a 300 Norma.. I'm afraid to put the toe in the water $$
but.. always the but.. look at what steelhead does with his 338 edge.. Definitely food for thought and who doesn't love food?

Yeah I was kind of alluding to that also. I was trying to limit it to calibers that may ahve potential to get to 3200+ with the 250's that were 30cal and using a standard magnum bolt face.Well I was talking about 30 calibers.
ahh, I was replying to this portion - 'I do push 265 grain solids at a bit over 3000 with the edge."Well I was talking about 30 calibers.
300 Ultra Mag is you best bet on a standard MAG BF but I'm not sure how long of a barrel you would need?Yeah I was kind of alluding to that also. I was trying to limit it to calibers that may ahve potential to get to 3200+ with the 250's that were 30cal and using a standard magnum bolt face.
Pretty muchWasn't the 300 Hulk, Toms creation? Than Norma borrowed the case dimension and renamed it 300 NM?
It will be burned up by the time load development is done so buy two LOLN570 and a 36 inch maybe?
No replacement for displacement. #338Gotta to pay to play. HP comes at a cost!
N570 and a 36 inch maybe?
It’s currently running berger 230’s at 3,200 with a moderate load of retumbo. I don’t think getting 250’s to 3,200 would be very hard using a slower powder and a warmer charge, only downfall in my case would be less than ideal stability in my 10 twist.Bat action w a nice curly maple stock? Can you hit 3200 FPS w 250 A-Tips?
Nice Cadex Tremor in the background![]()
