Is it Wrong To Want To Stock Up On Shotgun Ammo?

Give me a break. The stupid shit I read on here. LOL. OK dude
Frank has repeatedly said to watch the shit talk . If you want your door kicked in great but you bring unwanted attention to Frank's House with that shit . Frank has broken his ass to make a great place here and that type of talk hurts everybody here .
Considering that you were stupid enough to make that comment you're probably to stupid to take a hint . So maybe fuck off and take you and your Skylining bullshit to another forum .
This is the kinda stupid that actually hurts .

I have 8 cases stacked in the closet. Does that count, or is it still rookie numbers? 😄
Rookie................................hahaha

These days I'm pretty sure you need to buy it cheap and stack it deep or at the very least buy all you can afford when you find it. I picked up four flats of 7.5's for sporting clays a couple of months ago. Not because I needed them but because my LGS offered them to me at a great price.

I shoot occasional sporting clays, even the "occasional" guys are having to work to get ammo. Guys are splitting pallets to insure shells who do not shoot that hard. So there is concern that under the current communist regime ammo will continue to be scarce.

If you have a use for it, no. Ammunition does not expire, nor does it go bad if stored appropriately. How much you looking to get? The last time I really stocked up on shotgun ammunition, it was 55 flats...

What says the Collective.
Never a bad idea to stock up as leverage against future price increases or supply constraints. My personal stash consists of buckshot, slugs, and a little variety of bird shot/hunting rounds.

Ammo has become a commodity, and thus has value. In the future, if you decide you have too much for some reason, you can also sell it for the current market value at that time, which is most likely going to be more than what you paid for it.

P.S. Anybody check to make sure the crazy talkers aren't feds?

Anyone who still posts statements like this should have to send me all their primers.

Unless you have some stupid, edge of dipshit load, just load them.
I just know what I’ve been told/read people make it sound likE your shit will explode with them, all my loads are mild no reason to load on the edge for a few FPS.

Not everyone has reloaded for 30 years.

I cant remember the last time I loaded shotgun shells/ or even shot my shotgun.... spose I should dump the powder in the yard.. since fertilizer is like everything else price wise.

Price of shotshells is crazy-doubled when you can find them. Maybe I'll try my hand at loading some buckshot one of these days.

I did find a couple boxes of 16 guage shells.... haven't had that model 12 in years.

Buy em if you find them... always good for trading fodder.

i think shotgun ammo could be key if something crazy happens and you have to feed yourself or family, just like you might want to have .22lr or a pellet gun for hunting small game.

Last summer I was at the local Ace hardware and they had 2 cases of fiochii 12 gage 71/2 shot listed at 67.00 I bought both the cashier said they had more in the back, so I went back a couple of days later, they sold out, now I'm seeing prices of 115 a case and I bet by dove season it will be even more . Glad I jumped on it.

What is a ARF.com ? I just answered a legitament question. Sorry if i insulted someone or said something I shouldn’t have
Recommending how (and what with) to shoot someone in the face is...getting into the "yellow zone". The Hide is heavily monitored, by some who are looking for an excuse to paint gun owners as hot heads or deviants. While I know we have our share of perfectly acceptable deviants, there are some who would paint us all as something much worse. So we tend to frown on openly discussing things like that. There are group PM's, where that is sort of thing is tolerated...just not on the openly public forum pages.

So, you didn't insult anyone, and you didn't say anything that many weren't probably thinking. But there is a place for that, and it isn't on the publicly viewable pages. <shrug> It's the times we live in; people are watching.

I was buying a bunch of 10mm Norma off of a guy and he told me about a bunch of random ammo he had as well. I told him if he wanted to throw it in I was game, now I have a bunch of .410 ammo I don't even have a gun for lol. I'll get there eventually.
Top is a Mossberg youth 410. Originally a ribbed 21" barrel with 4+1 mag. I swapped those out for an 18.5" barrel and 5+1 tube I picked up from Mossberg's parts dept. Buttstock is just big enough to get a cheek weld and holds 9 extra rounds in a rifle butt cuff. 4 pellets of TRIPLE aught buck will ruin any bad guy's day.

For size reference those tiles are 12" square.

As to the OP's question, it is NEVER wrong to buy ammo of any kind.

I only poked ya cause I know you are a good sport.
I've switched to magnums before on loads that were cratering regular primers (223) without changing the load.

I bought a few cases of 12ga AA when they were on sale and had a rebate. Ended up around $16 per 100 of 7.5 shot. As i see it, if shit ever does go south there is more birds than most typical prey and they are dumb. Problem with shot is its bulky and heavy to move compared to 5.56 or 9mm which both are better for protection. But no cartridge is great for everything so ya gotta stock it all!

I've got many cases, in a roughly 3:1 ratio of reduced recoil double ought to standard bird shot loads for the Beretta 1301 tac. I need an accurate slug load as I see gun channels on YouTube consistently making hots at 125 yards.

At my old range I was blasting clays and everyone else with the fancy guns looked appalled.

Shotgunners, birdwatchers, ultralight backpackers-3 of the most pearl clutching creations on earth.

I haven’t seen 20ga on the shelf in almost 2 years, I ever do I’ll be buying a pallet.

You and me both. I bought a Youth 870 for my 5 year old grandson and the ammo is non-existent. When I do see it on Ammos33k, buckshot is more than 12 ga slugs or 00. Since he's not ready to shoot the 20 ga, he can just shoot his daddy's 410 that I bought more than 30 years ago. Now lets talk expensive, 410 ammo!!!!!!!!

At the beginning of the unrest I found a previously owned but NIB 20G 870 youth model for my daughter to buy. I gave her a bunch of ammo (bird/buck/slug) for it as well as some 9mm for her pistol. I warned her not to talk about it or share as the ammo was well over a grand at then current pricing.

get chamber inserts. I used 410 in my 12ga o/u as a garden gun for snakes

I still have the youth model 870 20G I bought with my dad at 12 years of age, it's been almost 25 years. I will be passing that one to my daughter. Along with the 10/22 I bought with my pops around the same time.

What’s the best shotgun round for shooting people in the face?
The one you have in the chamber when the opportunity presents.

Edit: I should have read the rest of the thread before responding, didn't realize the current regime had turned so many Americans into fearful, sandy-pussed, Karens. I read the OP's question as a tongue in cheek question about self defense ammo. There was no probable cause therein, dude does not seem to be planning a murder. Though he nearly got lynched by the hall monitors here.

I love Frank's house as much as the next guy, but the only way you beat this Orwellian bullshit going on all around us in the world is to not bow to it. Welcome to the kinder, gentler Hide.

Rant off
