Jacques Cousteau and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom

How come Jim always got the shit jobs?
Because Marlin Perkins was a sadistic a**hole that hated Jim for his manly looks and figured if he was dumb enough to jump out of the Land Rover to chase down and wrestle a lion he wouldn't stop him.

"...Jim seems to be having trouble with that giant Anaconda in waist deep water." *snicker

ol' marlin definately sent the jimmer into slaughter more times that i could cound.

i saw the old episodes were on a month or two ago, and me and the girl watched it. man, it was awful. and the shit they were doing.....they'd put you in fucking jail for that these days. shit, they'd a put you in jail back when i was a kid for doing similar. but if you have a t.v. show, evidently it was o.k..

Mutual of Omaha’s roping a grizzly.
This was the best episode.
Stan Brock was the man.

that shit is so fake, it wouldn't surprise me to see it as the latest news out of ukraine. like anyone could just hold that rope and subdue even a small grizzly bear. and then outrunning and out climbing it? lol. the coyote roadrunner was more real than that.

Haha…I Rem ER seeing the scene when the episode first came out! Yeah, I’m getting old.

I loved it. That snake beat Perkins like an Indian beating the wash.

And the beef cake side kick usually even got it worse.

Great stuff, those two shows. That and American Sportsman.
I used to watch Kurt Gowdy's American Sportsman as a kid on the black and white TV's only channel that was available.

That and Jim Thomas and The Lone Star Sportsman, which was nothing but a thirty minute beer commercial for Lone Star beer interrupted by short segments of hunting and fishing.

It was like an outdoor show narrated by an alcoholic.

"...Now lets have another cold Lone Star"

Hello my friend - yes, that was such a wonderful show and of course it was B&W...did they have color TV's back then? We sure didn't have one. haha But, we did have the three main network channels so I shouldn't complain.

Nope, that's a new one on me but I didn't live in TX.

Ah, and what's your point? haha Joking of course....but I like beer commercials and I like hunting and fishing so its a win-win, right? haha

Oh, now that takes me back but to a different country and beer. San Miguel beer in the Philippines tag line was something like "mag beer ma tayo"..."let's have a beer" Or maybe "mag beer pa tayo" which is "let's have another beer"...or we were told. On billboards everywhere.

The coldest beer in Angles City outside Clark AFB was 1.5 pesos...about 8 cents if I remember correctly (but we were drinking at the time so I may be wrong haha).

Good memories, thanks for the reminder.

Yup yup yup!!! Back in the day when you had to get up early on Saturday to catch cartoons and then Wild Kingdom...(at last around here...) 25' Anaconda...?? I think we'll let him off with a verbal warning...😂...truly the classics! I always got the feeling that I was watching some top secret documentary when watching Cousteau episodes....had to remind myself to breath!
