Last I read the rail company claimed overall shipments were going down, so they are cutting across the board to avoid empty train cars. Different companies were sent notices saying how many train cars they could no longer utilize. The rail company is trying to balance the loads as they reduce shipments. But someone in the know can correct me if this is wrong.

I watched the Ken Burns special too. They interviewed people I know and they know for it. Pretty good. I think I have at least as good of an idea of what they went though as you do.
