Gunsmithing M12 Gas Block

Doing my first Mk12 build and the barrel just came today. Test fitting things and the gas block gets stuck on the lip for the AEM5 collar. Is that normal and just needs to be lightly hammered on to get to the gas port?

What mfg gas block? There are some that need to be heated to be installed. Throw the barrel in the freezer and warm the gas block with a heat gun or torch.

Yup, those tend to be super tight on a variety of barrels. Almost always have to heat them. What barrel are you using?

If you can fit it in the freezer, I would do that for the little bit of shrink it gives Warm the gas block up and seat it with gloves or a mallet. Obviously make sure your barrel nut is on first!

If you can’t it fit in the freezer then use a can of air duster upside down and freeze the parts you meed like that. It will ice up but just wipe it down good when you’re done.

Another good option is dry ice. Many large supermarkets, particularly those with a fresh seafood section, sell it or give it away.

Yeah...... I learned that lesson a couple years back.
