You snatch ahold of the dogs back leg hip thigh whatever with some authority they dont like it might take a minute but they'll let go.
I say this from working in a kennel with some large breeds that had attitudes.
And they dont lock on just bite down.

You cannot fully train the attack instinct out of them.
It's bred into them, it is what they are designed to do.
If you try and grab onto any part of a pitt when it is fully fixated onto whatever it is attacking, you will lose that hand.

Same goes for a Shar-Pei, they are essentially the same in every aspect but looks.
Shar-Pei is bred to take down bears and actually does have a locking jaw unlike the pitt.

Have had and been around many Pits for the most part big babies and loved people.Some do have a high prey drive same as other breeds every dogs different. If you keep having to shoot your own dogs maybe you're the problem.......

They are good at it too. They were bred to be thrown in a pit, to fight to the death against anything.
People should choose the right tool for the job. If that job is blood sports (morally reprehensible as it is) a pit bull is a fine choice. If the job is playing with the kids it is not. Honestly, this isn't rocket science, I mean, if you want to give a baby something to play with; you give it a rattle, not a loaded 9mm...

Now, if you have a pitbull and you're playing with it and instead of the usual dog thing it clamps down hard on your arm instead of a light nip....what do you do ?

Every other domesticated breed has an instinct to only bite so hard when playing....sure maybe they will draw blood accidentally, but they have an instinct to let go and they never bite too hard in the first place.

Me, I shoot the mutha fucker because next time it might be a kid that's playing with it when it decides to full on clamp down and hurt the person.
I would not even think about giving it to a dog pound because then you're only putting the problem dog onto someone else.
You cannot train that out of a dog, no matter how good of a trainer you think you are, or how a professional dog trainer thinks he can train it out.

When I was a kid our friends had a pit Bull that was a former fighter. That dog had half of his ears missing, scars all over his head.
He loved us kids and would wrestle around on the floor for hours. Never once attacked us, just had lots of fun with us. He probably loved us because we never pulled a Tyson and tried to bite his ear off.

an interesting thing i was told by people that had pits for "pulling" contests. we knew they were fighting dogs bred and used for that purpose. was told,by the rules,that the smaller ones were carried to the ring,bigger one lead there. these dogs were highly bred and trained to animal aggression.
l was told that any people aggression was not tolerated and most showing that would be put down as they couldn't be handled outside the ring.
