On the other hand, I don't see any Toyotas in the winner's circle in the 1/4 mile going against Force Drag Racing.
Front wheel drives can't do this.. . (I remember reading about a guy who turbo'd his Dodge Areis K, it could go 10.5 in 1/4 mile)

The fastest hondas arent fwd they are AWD these days. comparing an 11,000hp car to any other class is stupid and anyone who knows anything will stop listening because you sound stupid. A FWD Honda was doing 7.58 1/4 mile times over 200mph which is real quick for just “spinning his wheels” with a H pattern 4 speed.While that's kinda true.. Any rig that is pulling a sub 8 second 1/4 is cool. It may not be my favorite way to do it, but impressive nonetheless. It takes gearheads of all types.

The Honda that runs 7.47 at 215 leaves like it's asleep, they have to slow roll it off of the line. If they could figure out how to get that car to launch without breaking all of the fragile ricer shit it would really be something. It should be running high 5's low 6's if they could launch it.

Technology replaces displacement there’s all sorts of ways to beat displacement. They do it on new cars all the time, that’s a very old fart thing to say.
Idiotic rpms on small engines with turbos beat displacement all the time. Just because you add alien doesn’t make it a large displacement engine...it’s just acts like one.

Don’t blowers and nitrous technically replace displacement? I can have a smaller engine that acts like a larger displacement engine without changing the stroke/bore size of the cylinder.

So if you apply 15psi of boost to a 1-liter engine - it acts like a 2-liter engine.
Apply that same number of boost to a 5-liter engine and it acts like a 10-liter engine.
So applying the same technology to a larger engine gets you the same increases in power.

The displacement is replaced with technology.
That technology is certainly an improvement....
And in modern vehicles - manufacturers have been able to replace prior displacement with technology to gain performance and efficiency with a smaller displacement to perform more work. Applying that tech to bigger stuff is fun too.
No they don't replace displacement. A 200 cubic inch ricer on 25 pounds of boost is nothing compared to a 500 inch V8 on 25 pounds of boost. Those ricers also do not produce any where near the torque a big inch V8 does. The upside to running a ricer is weight of the drive train, smaller tires so less rotating mass and usually the ricer cars are shit boxes weighing about 1500 pounds. If those ricer engines were they way to go everyone from Pro Mod up would be running them instead of 500 inch Hemis.

No, what you do is take that large displacement from the 60's and 70's, apply some of the new tech - then go start replacing broken transmission and rearend parts!
