If wanting the muzzle to be .830-850" what contour do to get? I worry getting a blank that would be too thick at that length when cut down from 26+ inches.
Rem varmint/sendero or medium palma is what you want. Those are consisten across manufacturers. If you prefer a straight taper, you’ll have to refer to each company’s contour charts for them.

Now, getting a CF barrel...looks like there is only so much allowable length to cut down on the muzzle ends. To get a "finished length" of 22" I would get the 26" blank correct?

No, you’d need to order that special to finish at 22”. Here’s how much steel is at the end of a Bartlein. Proof is even less. 1” at least needs to be removed, which means if you want a muzzle thread, you have a shade under .5” of wiggle room.

I've got an AR10 w/20"BA bull barrel. It's a .05MOA shooter with 137 Hammers when I am in my mojo. 12-13 shot .5 MOA with 168 Amax, so I think I should just be happy with it. I like the 7mm-08AI idea for 1000yds and brass is easy to make from the thousands of 308WIN I got laying around. Setting up an FTR 308 WIN 30" rig too. So, I want to venture out.
