I remember reading a magazine article written by Elmer. He said the 7mm Rem. mag was a good varmint cartridge and that was about it.

His preferred elk round was a 375 H&H. Said he saw too many elk run off when shot with less calibers.
He also said the 30-06 was an underachiever on game such as Desert Bighorn, after trailing and losing a trophy ram someone in his party gutshot. He was also a notorious blowhard and braggart.

He was fortunate to have lived in the Golden Years of hunting and shooting out west and as a result
was an excellent gun magazine writer and author. I have an autographed copy of his book Sixguns. He was a genius when it came to small arms, experimenting and developing loads and was the brainchild behind the .357, .44 and .41 mag. as well as an expert at long range shooting.

Bill Jordon was a close friend and looked up to him so that says something.

I'd love to hear his opinion of today's politics towards the 2nd A.

That Logmax machine is never mounted to a truck. There must be a Woods Machine parked behind the truck with the processor mounted to it.
BTW, I would program that processor to cut logs the right length for my wood stove and hold it over the back of my service truck. A bed load of rounds in about 30 seconds... LOL
Those were the days.

How are you supposed to maintain your girlish figure using a machine to dump your firewood into the bed of your service truck?
More importantly look at the wore out the front end on that unit.

I kept my girlish figure working on the de-limbers in the field, building the woods machines in the Pierce shop in Tualatin. I would take the field service calls that the other shop rat's would turn down... Saw some beautiful country... Met good people. I only did that during one of the recessions when construction slowed down in Oregon. Most of my time was spent on the Intel campus at Hillsboro. But, enough got to be enough and I moved to Montana.

Yup 05-06 winter working Cat-side sawing poles- guys on the crew loaded their elk with a Log max and I’d take a dump trailer full of DF/ L rounds home every weekend!
