How many guys are shooting one? There’s mega-threads for most of the other popular .22s so I thought we could start one for the RAR if there’s enough interest. I am really enjoying mine so far as my first precision .22. I wish there were more stock options available though, as the plastic isn’t great and I don’t want one in wood. Mine shoots CCI SV into one hole groups at 25yds. Here’s a shot of mine wearing an Arken 4-16.

Solid economy guns and the same action as the ruger precision rimfire that once tuned a bit can shoot very well. 25 yards isn’t much of a challenge for a rifle. 50 yards minimum.

everyone has a different threshold for satisfaction in performance. If you are happy that is all that matters. I am sure people will come along and beat you up for not demanding more out of the rifle or not spending money on a vudoo or rim x. Don’t concern yourself.

for me I am pretty happy with what my humble savage mark II can do, a rifle of similar price class to your ruger.
for matches I use a Kidd ( essentially a 10/22 copy if you are not familiar) and I am happy there. Lots of people will say you can’t expect the same fundamental accuracy potential out of a semi auto as you can a bolt, and they are absolutely correct, but the Kidd is enough for me. When I miss I am fully aware it is my fault not the rifles

I shoot one in between groupings on my main rifle. I also shoot a savage 22, no real target work, just plinking steel at 100 yds. I am probably going to change out my scope and rail to try and see how well it works at 200.

Very nice. I traded into my rifle and it came with a Timney as well…I’m impressed!

I did a makeover for these RARs for the junior shooters of a gun club. Since then, I've replaced the iron sights with inexpensive 4X scopes for their advanced classes. Although they look nice, the iron sights really suck because there wasn't enough windage adjustment. The sights were also a royal PITA to adjust. I'm told that the addition of the scopes was a big hit!

I have one and have been pretty happy with it. Except for one thing. Have any of you guys noticed that the gun shoots way to the right, having to use up quite a bit of the windage adjustments on your scope to get centered? I've tried two different scopes, two sets of rings, and checked all the obvious things with the same results. I had a similar issue with a Ruger 10/22 a few years ago. It turns out it was a common problem as Ruger had drilled the barrel threads crooked in the receiver.

Mine only took a few tenths at 25yds to zero. I thought these guns had press fit barrels?

I had an RPR and RAR, I sold the RPR and moved to a Tikka in an Oryx chassis which I am much happier for precision. I wish I'd have kept the RAR just for plinking or walking through the bush. I should just pick up another tikka for that.

They are a good rifle but not excellent, if you don't expect to much from them it will suit you great.
