Forty years ago, I knew how to operate and a Sun diagnosis machine and read one of those, today’s computer mechanics would have no idea what it is. Good times and memories! Old mind can’t remember the vitals and hook ups any more. Not many people running points and condensers any more……
If I could pick 1 vehicle to “street rod” in some form it would be an old Ford truck. Anything from the late 30’s to ‘56, F1 to the big 4wd or COE models is irrelevant. I’ll figure out something to do with it4 wheel drive Mack Junior or even better a Mack E Model.
If I could only have 1 though ‘40 Ford PU.
Never dealt with one. Were at a forth celebration, always alot of skeet shooting. Four guys had shotguns in AR configuration, never got close to check brands, but three would never cycle a second round, and forth might every now and then. Was not impressed, but like I said, never saw brands, or handled any of them.
One that sharpens carpenter's pencils. You know, I sort of need one of these in my life...

It's amazing that, that thing is an antique.View attachment 8193005
The woman brought one of these home for me on father's day. I have it hanging up on a cabinet door in the garage. The neighbor (a 28 year old mechanic) asked what it was. He's never seen oil that's not in a plastic bottle.
If you don't know how to sharpen these with a knife and/or sandpaper you should have your mancard withdrawn...One that sharpens carpenter's pencils.

I See you post this fellow a lot, and I think its great. 99% of the people here feel like coworkers sometimes. Ive just become so jaded by criminality, pedophilia, and all of that, no way will I even post my own pic let alone my grandson. Its that 1% man!!!!
Something being an antique is based on age not rarityIt's amazing that, that thing is an antique.
Everybody had one
I'm in my 60's and I'm pretty sure my mom had one of those when I was kid.View attachment 8193124
You never know what will come home from an estate sale.
A couple years ago I took one of my cars to a transmission shop to have the torque converter changed. The shop is run by an older guy and he had built the trans for the car. I got a call a few hours later about an electrical fire in the car. Some dumbass had turned the engine off and then turned the key back to on. Which is a big NO NO on a points ignition. Yes, I had a few choice words when I went back. Fucker melted the wiring harness all the way back into the car and under the dash. Hours of rewiring a classic car to be topped off with they didn't change the converter and it had to go back.Forty years ago, I knew how to operate and a Sun diagnosis machine and read one of those, today’s computer mechanics would have no idea what it is. Anyone ever have a job where your boss was too cheap to buy an electric version of this? Anyone ever have the job cutting all the wood for the job site with this tool? Not going to lie, he did have an electric drill. That was the only power tool. I often wonder if it was cheaper to pay me than to buy an electric saw.
Looking on the bright side, I was forced to make sure I made the correct cut the first time. Even back then, lumber wasn't cheap and if I made a mistake, that meant more wood to cut. When one arm got tired, I used the other. Don't talk to me about nail guns! I never learned how to use one.
If you got proficient with one of these as a teenager, then we can be friends.

Summers in the early ‘80s doing construction and barn straightening working for an 80-something year old carpenter named Walter. I learned more those two summers than in k-12.
Plus my grandfather had a wood shop in his basement. Not a single power tool. Whenever we visited, we would build something.

Yes. Yes you do. Nothing sharpens a pencil like these. Grinds instead of shaves….You know, I sort of need one of these in my life...

I don’t like the carpenter pencils. I like a regular skinny pencil for carpentry and suchOne that sharpens carpenter's pencils.
