WUT? 30-06 is only good out to 200 yards?
If you live on the continent of North America there is no justifiable reason to shoot anything larger than 30-06.
30-06 will take down the largest game with ease. It also excels at home defense, just ask the millions of gooks whom have had limb torn from torso by a 30-06 projectile.
If your hunting at distance. Are you pulling a 30 oh 6 out the closest or the 300nmWUT? 30-06 is only good out to 200 yards?
Uh wtf do u think is going to Ukraine chief....you won't see a roundHmm.
Gov standard round
Can’t wait for contract over runs and ammo cans of spec

If it does, they already have another one planned.Interesting thought... I def don't see that ending in the next few years but I got no crystal ball
Well, that's a lot better than just 200...236 to be exact.
Wrong country unfortunately....View attachment 8231379
Gougers exist if you're stupid enough to buy
Its laughable isn't it. There are a whole bunch of elk that would very much disagree with that, if they were alive. It has plenty of juice to kill elk out to 800 and probably beyondWUT? 30-06 is only good out to 200 yards?

If S&B were only as accurate as Hornady
Gman has great shipping prices though..

Sportsman's Warehouse local to me used to sell the standard 180 Spitzer in .300 Wby for $36 for 20 about 5-6 years ago. I bought the 2-3 boxes on the shelf until I had 15 boxes. Now I have enough brass to reload for the rest of my life. (I have 2000 Federal 215 too).… laughs in weatherby…
Edit: used to be around $5-6/round buying off the shelf- 15 years ago
I had a .340wby for years. Killed a lot of elk with it. I reload for just about everything I own, but sourcing brass used to be a challenge. Thought I got a smoking deal on the mkv… then I started checking ammo prices. I paid like $125/box for the 225 tsx rounds.Sportsman's Warehouse local to me used to sell the standard 180 Spitzer in .300 Wby for $36 for 20 about 5-6 years ago. Now that same box is going for $72 but goes on sale for $49 once in awhile.
Who brings that to hunt things 800 yards away.has plenty of juice to kill elk out to 800 and probably beyond
Good question. I questions guys that cant get closer than 800 yards. Most of mine have been pretty close. I "had" to shoot one at 615 once and it died just fine with the lowly 06. I have a buck pronghorn tag this year in an area where they are notoriously skittish. May have to sling one way out there and Im leaving the 06 at home. Bringing the .260, GASP! Easier to spot my hit and less meat damage. Like you said .22 kills a deer just fine. Ive killed elk the last 2 years with a Grendel and guys are lugging norma mags, LOL. Meat preservation is a thing. I guess if I was going to shoot them in the ass and hope for a kill shot I'd bring a NM. Poking them through the lungs just doesnt take that much energy.Who brings that to hunt things 800 yards away.
A .22 will kill deer way past 100 yards. Doesn’t mean it’s the right tool

As we've discussed, same with the American Gunner but out to about 800. But theyre only a buck a pull.I am going to guess at shorter ranges, what sort of luck have you had with it at 1000 yards?

I never tried the 131 soft points
I tried the S&B 140s and it was good to about 300 yards, then at like 6-700 started walking all over the place.
You got a time machine for $1 American gunner 65cm?As we've discussed, same with the American Gunner but out to about 800. But theyre only a buck a pull.
Looks like my timeline is out of date, best I'm seeing in $1.20.You got a time machine for $1 American gunner 65cm?
It was more a positional practice round for 500 and in on full sized IPSC plates.I am going to guess at shorter ranges, what sort of luck have you had with it at 1000 yards?

Someone in the next post up is offering one in NM.I used to have one of those and a few other weatherbys that I got from my father. He'd always tell me about the ballistics of the 30-378 and the 416 and blah blah blah. He shoots a 6.5 creedmoor now.
The only hunting rifle I own is a 270 for if/when an Elk tag drops out of the sky.
Not sure where you going with that but if it's in relation to the 300 Norma and ASR. Hornady didn't get the contract for the ammo. Sig won the solicitation for the ammo contract. Out of all the ammo makers that submitted for it. Again Sig won it. I don't if I recall correctly Hornady didn't want any part of ASR. They already have Devgroup using the 300PRC and using Hornady ammo.Marketing. Hornady trying to push the industry in a certain direction and everyone else trying to keep up
Is it possible that 300 Norma is being exported over to support the festivities in Ukraine?
The 340 hammered the wapiti. Pretty sure they died as I was pulling the trigger. Never should have sold mine. I’ve owned/own bigger, faster, full custom hot rods, but I always had complete confidence in that stainless, Tupperware stocked mkv.I used to have one of those and a few other weatherbys that I got from my father. I'll say no but anything is possible. Is it possible that 300 Norma is being exported over to support the festivities in Ukraine?

First few elk were with a 270. All dead, but guarantee the 340 was a bit more dramatic and anchored everything immediately. No fuss, no muss, just the instant lightning bolt and folded right there. We can argue up, down, left and right til we’re blue in the face, but the 20 or so elk (not a brag, just a fact- many more have MUCH more/different experience than I do) tell me, anything can do the job, but there are bigger, better tools. I hunt with a 28 nosler now, full custom, proof carbon…blah blah blah, but that bone stock mkv 340 killed em dedder.340 is huge like 338 lapua, only elk I have ever killed with with a 3006. Pretty sure that my sears/roebuck 270 would do it as well.
The situation has gotten markedly better for 22LR Match, 6.5 CM and 308. I only have the benefit of 300 yards where I am so I only shoot match ammo for groups versus metal. Shoot a lot of dot drills as well.6.5 manbun is really coming back down in price fast, especially those cheaper rounds. I am not an ammo snob, I will shoot the cheaper rounds if I am just practicing at 100 yards. S&B 140, the American gunner, etc, all work fine at shorter distances for me
but if I know I am shooting longer range, I will opt for the Hornady ELD bullets, my gun really likes them (I use them in my reloads)
I remember not too long ago when the S&B cheap manbun bullets were $3 each, if you could find them
I can get FGMM 308 168 or 175 grain for a similar price.
BUY MORE AMMO....Story of my lifeAny interest in 168gr FGMM 308?
