Hornady 7mm .284 166gr A Tip BC's

Nice! I am running 168vld with at 3050 with a .618 BC

dropped an ELK past 900.. imagine 4 grains lighter what’s not to like about more consistency and 7% better BC?

Thanks for posting!
Nice! Just gotta keep in mind, the bullet construction is a little different and I've heard the A-Tips can be quite explosive.

The 162 ELD-M beats the 166 ATIP ...
That doesn't really speak to consistentcy, but I've ran the 162's without issues in the 1600-1700 yard range..

That’s what I don’t understand, I’ve ran the 162 to 1000 yard and found them very consistent as well …
Usually the atips are sleeker and have improved BCs over their ELD-M counterparts.
I’ve read the 166 ATIPS liked to be jumped so maybe it’s a bullet that’s meant for short actions 7mm loaded at mag length ?

I see that is what Hornady has on their website. I can't remember exactly but I don't believe those were the numbers that were there when I posted that. Also, to me those numbers look to be inflated. According to Applied Ballistics the numbers are as follows. So I guess there's that.🤷🏻‍♂️

162 ELD-M
G1 BC .640
G7 BC .327

166 A-Tip
G1 BC .665
G7 BC .341
