True story- I used to serve in the Bethesda Mission (Catholic High School requirement needing so many hours of volunteer work for graduation/that was my pick) a couple decades ago. It wasn't a great area then and I assure you it's not a great area now (the address is in the picture, plug it into the crime map of your choice).
There's a lot of VERY good volunteers that have spent decades trying to make a real difference but... well it really hasn't made much of a difference in turning that area around. Some links from the local news though in case anyone is interested.

Bethesda Mission has earned a 4/4 Star rating on Charity Navigator. This Religious Organization is headquartered in Harrisburg, PA.
That said- this brought back some memories for me but as for the facts, the charity has been running since 1914 and if you care to understand the address/area you'll better understand the above post and why areas such as these would often otherwise go overlooked. I wouldn't be surprised if a pattern of similar stories follows similar areas.
