Then there are the anti-EV people, some of whom are actually violent. One of them required the police to get involved, and was unluckily enough for me to be traveling and packing.

The hydrogen vehicle is nothing new. The high pressure in the tanks has always been one of the biggest problems. Not just with safety on the road but also safley refueling them.
