Been reading a lot of Jack Carr books the Dan Kilmer series by Matt Bracken are good but if you really want laugh out loud politically incorrect reading the Florida Man trilogy by Mike Baron will have you in stitches Gary Duba is a riot and you'll feel a bond with him and his cohorts
Since you seem to like Ayn Rand, you should pick up two of her shorter books, Anthem and We the Living. Frankly, both are better than the two you mention above. Anthem is short enough that it can be read in one or two sittings, and it is my personal favorite of hers.
I'm still reading through all the Elric books, it's a fantasy series where the central character is somewhat of an anti-Conan. They hold up pretty well vs the crap that passes for fantasy these days.
The Hawkmoon books are even better in the different department
Post apocalyptic europe with wizards and steam powered robots, the hero rides around on a giant flamingo and then a huge mutated goat
Squadron Signal and the other Military Aerospace books were what I grew up on. I have a ton of them.
The books I showed above are more for AeroEs, written by AeroEs and test pilots, with each of the subsystem design and test engineer chiefs usually writing the separate chapters on airframe, propulsion, FLCS, sensors, weapons, NAV, avionics, E&E, etc.
The F-35 and RAH-66 ones are pretty sick. I almost feel like they should be controlled items, not OSINT.
I would strongly recommend anyone read the F-35 one before commenting or forming an opinion on it. It will blow your mind if you have a background in legacy 4th Gen fighter systems architecture. They did everything better just from an air-vehicle systems perspective, avionics, structures, propulsion, Man-Machine Interface, power management, cooling, you name it.
