So what happens when the Uniform Hangers arrest you for DUI anyways even when you blow 0.0 on their stupid tests?
Maybe when that happens to you, you'll stop with the boot licking.
This thread is all about SPECIFICALLY, a bunch of EVIL uniform hangers arresting people that are not drunk at all, many even proven to be 0.0 on the blow tests, but they don't care, they still arrest them anyways because hey we have that "qualified immunity" and some stupid evil MADD types are paying us extra cash or days off for arrest numbers even if they are false arrests.
Folks like you never seem to get their heads out of the sand, until it happens to them and then they wonder why.
Stop worshiping uniforms and licking boots.
Demand an end to Qualified Immunity
Trust me, I am all for having no qualified immunity. So, then, when enough people bring their lawyers in and sue personally the officers into bankruptcy, this might slow this kind of thing down. Or, at least it may have the effect of the cop no longer can afford to stay.
Also, sue the superior officers. Sue everyone who could have stopped this and didn't.
The problem is exactly that there are no consequences for the bad behavior of these offending officers.
Not every department has qualified immunity. Back in my younger days when I had a state commission to carry a firearm in the performance of my duties, one of the lessons taught was about the liability of officers.
A patrol officer answered a radio call of a man in an apartment courtyard waving a gun around and threatening people.
He arrived in his clearly marked cruiser with lights going. And wearing his uniform. Sure enough, there was a guy with a gun threatening people.
He called his rank and name and the police department and drew his weapon from behind his open door and told the subject to drop his weapon and take 3 steps back.
The suspect had a different plan, which was to turn and shoot at the cop. The cop returned fire and shot him and he died.
The cop then faced an IA investigation, his weapon was seized as evidence, he was placed on desk duty, pending the outcome of the investigation. He was technically charged with murder until all the evidence was collected.
The evidence and the testimony of the other residents showed that he did the right thing and had to fire. Not guilty of murder by reason of self-defense.
So, he could recover his weapon and return to duty.
The family of the suspect sued him and the department saying that the officer, acting on behalf of the police department, took away their loved one's civil rights when he shot and killed him after the loved one shot at him, first.
Eventually, the case was dismissed but the cop had to pay his attorney to represent him.
So, can you cite for me proof that every single police department and officer in this country has qualified immunity?
I don't care about QI. Arrest me on false charges and I will see to it that you have a bad day. Or two.
