I was almost scammed by a guy with the same user name and the one i was dealing with, he sent me a message and everything looked the same. Luckily i already bought it from the real one. I will stress, phone calls are your friend, scammers in most cases wont take a phone call and are not of american nationality. take the time and request or allow a phone call

I dont want to mention his account name, there are 2 of the exact account name and I was fortunate enough to ask for a phone call and received it, the sale went through fine and after the sale I received a message from the same account name asking for payment, the accounts were identical except 1 was created a few years ago with over 500 messages and the other a couple months ago with zero messages. when i asked for the fake profile to give me a call, i received an excuse as to why he cant talk on the phone or that he is having phone issues. be aware, ask for a phone call

 How do we know this BurtG everyone is sticking up for isn't the scammer? He could be doing legit deals just to fool everybody. Build a cover story for the real BurtG who IS a scammer.

I also can attest to being cautious and asking for a phone call. I recently responded to a post (a couple of days ago) where the seller wasn't able to accept PMs, but had pics of the item and appeared to be legit. He ended up being legitimate, but I received two other PMs from users who saw my post asking if there was a way to communicate with him privately.

Neither of the other two scammers would respond to my request for a call, but the OP sent pics, videos, and got a phone call with me to put my mind at ease.

I'd rather miss out on a "deal", than get scammed by these bottom dwellers. In the famous words of Ronald Reagan to Mikhail Gorbachev, "Trust, but verify".

Hadn’t heard of being out of replies before :ROFLMAO:

Try not to post "I'll take it" or "offer sent" in a for sale thread. You've become a mark if you do this.

That is for morons.

You are NOT a moron. (I am assuming)

You are ALL already “marks”. Act accordingly.

In my for sale ads I put “I will NOT DM You, DM me through this post”.

99.9% this type of issue would be solved if comms were initiated through the OP post’s user ID. It is that simple!

DO NOT ACCEPT DMs that YOU did not initiate through the Sale ad OP’s user ID.

Furthermore everyone needs to have 2 factor Authentication switched on. I would advocate for making 2 factor authentication mandatory on all accounts.
