Looks like that in front of my Eye Doctor’s office!
The brown stain in the water has nothing to do with me....
And if you believe that, I have this interesting tower to sell you for a good price. Located in Paris, just the thing to put your name on.
Drum on little man!
I have been in several Federal “Wilderness” areas and seen overgrown ruins of exactly this…?
I think it is more than the noise, the heat too but who knowsDo they use it for "white noise"? Like running a vacuum for a colicky baby?
I believe all the parts are made in China or Korea no matter the brand.I had heard/read that getting service techs to work on the foreign brands was a PITA, price at the store was good/enticing but getting someone to show up to work on them was another whole story. We bought a Whirlpool SXS back in '18 when we re-did the kitchen, along with a Whirlpool over with the front controls and digital readout.
The fridge developed a leak in the ice maker system and ruined the hardwood flooring under the fridge, and could not get anyone to come fix it under the warranty for about 4 weeks. Had the flooring repaired before the fridge tech showed up, and then he had to order parts, and come back in 2 weeks, so the fridge was moved in/out of the space several times. Luckily, no more marks on the hardwood since I laid some thin cardboard down every time the fridge was moved out. It sounds like a jet engine at times when it does one of it's cycles but still works now.
The digital readout on the oven went wonky right after the warranty ran out and won't display the entire digit so we have to go above or below to get the right temp setting for preheat, which takes FOREVER. LOL But it cooks good, so...
WTF?
within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States, to board and search for aliens any vessel within the territorial waters of the United States and any railway car, aircraft, conveyance, or vehicle, and within a distance of twenty-five miles from any such external boundary to have access to private lands, but not dwellings, for the purpose of patrolling the border to prevent the illegal entry of aliens into the United States;

I am not arguing at all the overlords don't already have too much power.
I live approx 80 miles from the Clinton National Airport in Little Rock so I guess that would give them free rein here ?Your civil rights diminish in direct proportion to your distance from the border...
They never 'used' it, but CBP put up a border check station at White River Jct. VT... just under 100 miles from the Canadian border. They ran spot checks on and off. But after building it and putting in a nice rest area next to it) they pretty much mothballed it. It was not used for Messicans... but when GWOT was a thing and the abba dabbas were pouring over the Canadian border from Montreal. Which was considered a 'green zone' for the terrorists. They didn't fuck with the Canadians... who knew they were there... they didn't fuck with Canada. It was an understanding.
They could get across a very porous border in upstate NY, rural VT, rural NH... but they still had to 'get' South. And the funnel point was White River. So... a border patrol station.
Mothballed now, but could open up any time! And yes, legal.
Sirhr
What the heck is this? Bringing facts to the discussion. This here is the pit, have you fogotten where you are?![]()

If you are withing 100 miles of a medium sized airport

Joking aside, any port of entry to the US is legally considered to be "an external boundary of the United States." This means that any airport that has a Customs and Border Patrol facility is an external boundary. There are a lot of them: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/general-aviation-processing/general-aviation-airports
There are 100-mile radius circles in every state that this ruling applies to. If you are withing 100 miles of a medium sized airport, you are probably in the search zone. I would bet the majority of members here fall within one of those circles.
I've done it a couple times. Ranks as my least fun couple of experiences ever. One was in a wheelchair and wearing those knee high compression socks. He could have been hiding whatever he wanted in those socks. I wasn't about to make him take them off or touch them.Except naked old guys, nobody wants to frisk a naked old guy
Unless you are suspected of something... or coming back from a weekend banging little kids in Thailand or Bogata... noone is going to bother your stuff. Most airports now are self-scanning. You have to set off the alarms to get flagged. And to get your phone searched... you are going to have to have a pretty poor set of answers to questions like 'What where you doing in Bankok for 5 days?' "I was there on a business trip with IBM at the facility on Banga banga street straightening out a software problem..." Is a good answer. "I was there on vacation and didn't really have an itinerary or any plans... will probably get you asked more questions."Interestingly, though, the actual law states 25 miles.
One of the things that most people don’t understand is that if you are a US citizen coming back into the country, they can search everything on you, including your phone.
The primary reason that I do not take a phone with me when I travel overseas is that even though I’m not a scumbag criminal, both the equivalent of the border patrol services in the foreign nation can generally do whatever they want and, our own border patrol can search your electronic devices when you return without a warrant.
Which is a really good reason to take a burner phone with you and leave your primary phone locked up in the safe powered off at home.
I don’t know about you guys, but I got all sorts of crap on my phone. None of it a problem but also none of it that anybody needs to see, play with, or decide to make something of it even though there’s nothing to be made of it, etc.

As a revolver-a-holic, I have to say this should be illegal to do!
