Assembled a .264 LBC, 20" 1-8 twist, Baer AR barrel with LBC complete N.M. Carrier & Bolt Assembly. Consistantly shooting 1 inch groups at 100yds. with Hornady 123g A-Max factory ammo.

Any ideas or others having succes with other ammo?

Thanks, Alan

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

Are you planning on reloading for it? I have two loads shooting right at 1/2" in mine consistently. One with 85 grain Sierras and the other with 107 sierras. Both using IMR 8028 XBR powder. I havent shot any factory ammo as I reload all mine.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

If you reload try 123 gr SMK over 29.1 gr of AA2250 in Lapua brass loaded to 2.30 OAL. Gives sub .5 MOA in my 24" .264 LBC barrel. 123 gr Lapua Scenars work equally as well.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

I currently have Andrew from McCourt loading 120gr. Berger for me, have not received any yet but ready to give them a try!
I do hope to reload shortly but just not there yet.

Thanks for the load data squin, I should be able to try soon.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

Alan, have you tried any of Baers ammo offering, my 18inch 1/8 twist in 264lbc really liked the Black Hills 123smks, although the 123 amax's were a close second. My current load is Hornady or Lapua brass, 123 Scenar, 30.3 grains of AA2520, CCI 450 mag primer, loaded at 2.265. My rifle is not all fond of the lighter bullets and I gave up trying to make them work very quickly, not sure if 1/8 twist had anything to do with it or the actual chambering.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

mjh, I have not tried any of their ammo, but it does seem like a good place to try. I am going to wait on Andrews 120g. Bergers and see how they do. Thanks for the info.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

A note to second considering the Black Hills SMKs. I'm shooting them in a 20" 264LBC from Baer; with these I can reliably get sub .5MOA groups and the occasional one hole group. I haven't tried any of the hunting oriented rounds so can't comment on those.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

Thanks for all the great information. Currently shooting Andrew McCourt's 120g Bergers and doing very well.

I appreciate all who forwarded load data to help me get started with this round.

Re: Accuracy problem with .264 LBC

Many people use blue loc-tite on the outside of the gas block, and around the outside of the barrel extension between the barrel extension and the upper receiver to tighten things up. Another trick is to use a tool (Brownells) that squares off the face of where the barrel extension mates up with the upper receiver. Usually, all three of those items are used together to get the best accuracy.
