The x ring is 1/2moa, 10 ring is 1 moa.

You'll want to be in those if possible.

You'll also be shooting in f-open so you can use a mechanical front rest, but if you're goal is to have fun, I certainly wouldn't tell you that you can't use the bipod.

Ive got both kind of rests, Harris and a Bald Eagle Slingshot, Id like to use the bipod since I use the Slingshot for BR comp. I hope F-open class is for beginners, cuz I have no idea what im doing, LOL. Can I pick and choose how far Ill be shooting? Isnt it from 300 out to 1200yds?

Guys will help you. No worries about being newbie. Everyone starts as new

Rifle
scope
front rest
rear bad
Shooting mat
ammo
ammo boxes
clip board with data book
spotting scope unless you want to lay behind rifle for spotting
small folding chair
chamber flag
Get a piece of poly or naylon for a mat/rifle cover for dirt and rain
bring a one piece cleaning rod, so if you get stuck case your not running around begging to borrow one

Say hello on the rnage

Good luck

What Mike said!

Plus:

F-Open definitely isn't for beginners, but the object here is to have fun and learn your rifle. If you keep your mind in that mode, you'll be fine. Most shooters (F-Open and F-T/R) are running 1/2 MOA groups (or less) at 300 yards. That small little X-ring on the F-Class target is challenging.

You can pick and choose how far you shoot by picking your matches. In Wisconsin, there should be plenty of matches in Lodi, I'd imagine, and yes, 300 to 1000 yards is typical for F-Class, with the occasional 1200 (or 1233) thrown in.

With your 6mm, if you do your job making flawless ammo and holding position, you should be reasonably competitive out to 600 yards. The top F-Open guys don't usually break out their howitzers (7mm mags) until the long yard line due to barrel wear issues.

Be patient, watch, and ask questions of fellow competitors. Almost all will help new guys trying to get into the sport. Whatever you do, don't come away with the impression that you have to drop $10K in order to start.

Hope this helps,

Darrell

Don't worry about being a beginner in F-Open. If Chad's building your gun you will have no trouble being under 1/2 MOA with good ammo and load development. Yes, you can use a bipod for F-Open. In fact, a Scottish shooter, Des Parr regularly beats guys with fancy rests using his bipod.

The 6mm Creedmore is a very accurate cartridge, although I would stay at matches that are under 600 yds until you get a few matches under your belt. The advantage to having a .308 boltface is that you can then have Chad chamber a different caliber/barrel for longer ranges using a cartridge like 6.5-284 or even a .284 Win, if you so feel inclined. So, you will have two different calibers by simply switching the barrels out. Good luck and don't worry about asking questions at the range. No one will think lesser of you as we have all been there.

I'd like to thank all of you who responded also.
Myself, my son and a good friend are all eyeballing
this very thing and we watched
part of a match in Bridgeville, De.
this past weekend as we left the 100-300yd range.
I really wanted to ask about getting involved but they were in the middle of a match and I didn't know how I'd be received.

If anyone else shoots there please PM me when you have time.
I'm sure we'd all like to pick your brain a little and if you're in the area lunch is on me. Thanks, Paul.
