For those who use battle belts could we start a thread of what people are using.......Viking tactics....HSGI etc. I'm going to either a new one that can convert from 5.56 to7.62 by just swapping mag puches.

Let's see some gear. These things are pretty heavily customized for each user so I'm trying to get ideas on what works best.

Thanks gents.

I use US Grunt Gear. They are really nice, except the wait time is like 3-5 months.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

Im using a Blackhawk belt. Its got plenty of padding on the inside so its very comfortable. Has MOLLE webbing all the way around and a good strong buckle to hold it all together. I configure it a little differently depending on what kinda match Im going to be doing. One thing I keep pretty consistent is a dump pouch on the right quarter front and mags on the left quarter front. One thing I have seen on a few belts I like is the ability to have your pistol holster attach to the inside via a small area of MOLLE inside the belt at the right point so as to not use up real estate on the outside in those spots.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

HSGI is my choice.......buddy runs Viking Tactics and it is solid gear as well.

I use 3 taco rifle/pistol combo mag pouches on my left, roll up dump pouch on the rear and holster on the right. I squeeze in a LRF pouch or utility pouch depending on what I'm doing.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

Don't own any, but I have tried the BROKOS, ATS, CTOMS, and OSOE battle belts. The latter two are both excellent, and I will eventually get one of them. I'm experimenting with a lighter, riggers belt-based 1st line philosophy right now. Pair either of those those with some HSGI Taco pouches and you will only need one for all your caliber needs.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

I'm currently using an ATS War Belt with an ATS Insert/Duty Belt. I don't know why it is but most of the time when I see a thread about battle belts, dudes have it loaded down to the point it's more like their second line gear as opposed to first line. I keep mine pretty light with a double mag pouch, FastMag, Blue Force Gear dump pouch, IFAK, and Safariland 6004. The pouch on the Safariland holds a Leatherman Wave but can also be used to hold a light if need be. I might get another FastMag but other than that I don't see myself adding anything more to the belt.

I've used a few different belts and depending on what your price point and intended use is I'd recommend Tactical Tailor, SO Tech, and ATS. I used the ATS and TT MOLLE belts for the times I went to the range with my carbine and pistol and set the SO Tech up for use with my precision rifle since it can comfortably carry more weight. The Tactical Tailor is a good entry level MOLLE belt and served me very well for years but the ATS is better in features IMO.

My old TT set up:

This!!! I also run the H harness if my kit is running heavy.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

Damn there's a lot of info in this stuff. For those who run spare AR mags, which belt seems to work best with vertical mags in something like a taco pouch or even a kydex typed holster?

Im thinking I may have issues with clearance once my vest is on (hard plate armor). I don't want it to jack my shooting comfort from either side if I've got a mag sticking up. I doubt my skills running a downward mag like I have seen in some belts.

Maybe I just buy a few belts and see what works for me.......or I say screw it and just run off the vest.....though I'd like to load myself down with as much possible accessible ammo that I can realistically carry and maneuver with.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

Check out the CTOMS with the drop panel. I thing OSOE will do it for you like that custom, too. That will put the mags down low enough so they don't extend past the top of your belt.

Was contemplating getting a second HSGI belt, just thought it was excessive.

I use the HSGI suregrip, with g-code holster/rti wheel two double tacos and a single taco on the left side. Shotgun carriers for 3-gun work up front.

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

I'm using the US Grunt Gear Infidel belt w 2 Pistol pouches, 2 Carbine pouches, dump bag, IFAK and Sidearmor kydex Glock holster. I'm about change over to the HSGI taco mag holders.

Five pistol mags is a little more than I like to carry, although I usually run 4 single-stack 1911 mags...

Re: Battle belts - what do you use?

Took the waist belt/cummerbund with molle off of the original Gunslinger pack and just rock that and the velcro tramp-stamp glory! It even has an arrow that says "up" just in case I am feeling full-blown retard that particular day.
