looking for a nice 45 degree offset mount with protective wings that will fit the burris fastfire3. Will mount right under my scope on my ar-10... I know there is a mount with protective wings that will work for the fastfire2, but what about the fastfire3? anyone with experience with the fastfire3 would be great.

I have 2 Fastfire 3's and I believe they have the same footprint and screw holes as the previous Fastfires (1's & 2's). So, I think you will be fine with the mount for the FF2 you found that has wings. I have been considering buying LaRue's 45 degree mount, but it doesn't have wings. Who makes the mount you mentioned?

the only problem is i think the fastfire mount with wings doesn't have the correct button holes in the side for the operation of the fastfire3... i could be wrong on this. I think the Burkett Gen 2 mount might work for the relocated buttons on the fastfire3, but I need to look into this.

this is what i'm thinking.... will need to look into this to see if it works with the new fastfire3 and the new button locations.... only problem is it might be too low: http://www.predatortactical.com/Burkett-Off-Set-Mount/GEN-2-Burkett-JP-DOC-OffSet-Mount-p37.html

i got my burris fastfire3 today and all i got to say is WOW, what a friggen let down. I'm not sure who the person over @ burris designed the battery cap, but damn!!! you can't screw on the damn cap if the battery is installed!! what in the world are you guys thinking? sheesshhh. what a ball dropper. no battery, cap goes on and off... battery installed, no go. Man alive, I waited what??? almost 3/4 of year for this fastfire3 with massive let down. Burris needs battery compartment idea more like vortex or eotech's 2 screw idea. Would stay away from the fastfire3 due to this very reason. Moving onto other BUIS ideas I guess.

+1 on the predator tactical burkett mount it is built like a tank well worth the money...if you can't live with the fastfire I think SWFA still has some docter mini dots on sale they are a great sight I have had many over the years..also the trijicon rmr is a good little sight..

think i might look into the doctor or RMR... was total let down with the fastfire.

My cap screws on just fine. Maybe you have a defective one.

The picatinny wing mount works with the Fastfire II, but not the Fastfire III. The III will fit in the mount very nicely, but you can't access the power button. Burris says there will be a wing mount for the III this fall. Of course, we've been waiting for their AR Pivot Ring for 6 months, so who knows when we'll actually see a wing mount for the III.

Ive tried my Fastfire II on an angle mount with and without the protective wing mount. Without the wing mount, I can rotate the rifle without breaking cheek weld, and everything works fine. WITH the wing mount, the Fastfire is too high on the 45 degree mount.

Mark, which mount did you use?

I am trying to find a mount that will work with the FF3 as a secondary optic, provide cheek weld, and be usable (path parallel to the barrel).

I have tried Daniel Defense 45 offset connected to top and side rails, YHM 90 degree offset connected to top and side rails, and the GG&G 30mm scope-mounted rail at 45 and 135 degrees. None of these provided cheek weld except GG&G at 135 degrees, but the path from my eye through red dot to target was not in line with the barrel (in other words, it would never work).

I really am not liking the money and time involved in this trial and error. You are the first guy I've seen anywhere that definitely posted a solution that specifically says it is for the FF, it works, and it provides cheek weld. So I really want to know what mount you used.

I don't know if it matters, but my primary scope is USO SN-3 3.2-17x44.

Re: offset mount with wings for burris fastfire3

I use a FastFire II, using the weaver/picatinny mount (no wings), on a Weaver offset rail adapter:

The optic is a Weaver 1-3x20:

    In a DNZ mount:

Everything is on a Rock River flat top "Rocky" (pretty original, huh?), and I'm using the Magpul MOE stock. Holy crap, there are a lot of variables. I think I just got lucky.

Okay, I'll buy one more rail and give it a try. Just looking at the picture it does look more promising than the other stuff I've tried. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

Well, better than "Flatty" or "Rivery" I guess.

Re: offset mount with wings for burris fastfire3

Check out the Matt Burkett mount. It doesn't have wings but the M1 knobs will be acting as a kick stand before your red dot will since it holds it real close to the receiver.

I also like it because it's not connected to the scope. Direct mount to the receiver. IF anything happens to the scope and you need to ditch it and go irons, you still have the red dot.

Re: offset mount with wings for burris fastfire3

Well Mark, I ordered one. Hoping for the best...

JDR, as far as I can tell the Burkett mount actually does have the wings, and that won't work with the FF3. It's also way out of my budget for its purpose.
