I'm on the cusp of picking up one of these units, and I'm wondering how these are working for use with .22LR? I've read through the big thread here on the Hide, and it comes up occasionally...with a caveat that sensitivity must be turned up to read the 40gr pill.

I thought we could pull the use of .22LR out of that big thread and maybe get a little more focused thread here.

How's is working?
Any issues getting the clearance minimized for best reading?
What adjustments/settings are needed?
Any bullets that don't register?
What type of bullets are working best?
Are MVs in line with the manufacturer's listed speed?

This Magnetospeed seems to have a lot going for it...and more so if I can reliably use it with my .22LR for help in getting dope out past 100 yards.

Thanks!

Re: Magnetospeed's and the .22LR

I couldn't get a reading with the factory settings( CCI std vel or Wolf)

My settings are:
Non Metallic bullet
Zero Crossing trigger and
000 Threshold level

Now it works 100% of the time

Here is the data for CCI Std Vel

Series 9 Shots: 10
Min 1027 Max 1090
Avg 1057 S-D 17
ES 63

Series Shot Speed
9 1 1049 ft/sec
9 2 1059 ft/sec
9 3 1090 ft/sec
9 4 1027 ft/sec
9 5 1054 ft/sec
9 6 1054 ft/sec
9 7 1057 ft/sec
9 8 1065 ft/sec
9 9 1043 ft/sec
9 10 1078 ft/sec

Rifle is a Savage TR and I was using the thinner pad.

Neoshooter,

Thanks for the settings! They will certainly come in handy. I'm shooting Wolf MT mostly, so I'll check them out.

Interesting to see the MV is fairly close to specs. ES is a bit wider than I would have guessed, but it is probably the norm for the mid-priced .22LR ammo.

Good info...thanks!
