i am new to reloading and i am looking for advise on a good place to start for my .300wm.

i am asking what would be a good powder to start with?

also bullets, i have been advised by many to go with 220smk or the newer berger 230 considering my .300wm has a 1/10 twist rate.

anyone have a specific primer they like or have had good luck with?

and lastly, brass, i have around 300 rounds of fire formed hornady brass that some have told me to throw away, and others have told me to use it.

any advise would be greatly appreciated

This is what I use in my Encore with a 1:10 twist barrel. When working on loads, I tried various bullets, too many to remember right now, and the 200 gr. Accubonds did the best for me.

When you say "fire formed" do you mean shot in your gun? That's what fire formed means. If shot in someone else's gun, the correct terminology would be once fired, twice fired, etc. If once fired, I'd use it; it just needs to be full length resized. If fired more than once or twice, you need to check for incipient head separation but running a wire down the inside of the case to check for the groove from thinning brass above the web. Sometimes the groove won't be apparent until after you size the case.
