Know the rifles don't shoot any different but who comes up with these goofy receiver logos? I don't want a picture of somebody's favorite tattoo, their mother or bozo the clown on my stuff. Help me understand before my next therapy session.

Every maker wants their mark, A logo connects a product to a company IMHO...for me, I see an armadillo I immediately know its Larue..Advertisement....I would also want to believe that some of these guys take their work as a type of art

(but maybe its just my artsy faggle side coming out.)

I have never been into these either. I actually really like the plain receivers I have seen.

Frankly, I wish we saw more Stars & Stripes rollmarks (or military or NRA supporting receivers, something like $10+ from every purchase goes to support those in the military/families or the 2nd Amendment).

That would be much better than the zombie/etc stuff we see.

Agreed...even though I can kind of understand why: I tend to stay away from lowers with "Bullet" selector marks, and stupid logos on the side.

Who makes this one </div></div>

Isn't made, was done with a laser beam at Ident Marking out of TX. A "one off" so to speak.

That's the sort of thing I was meaning - thanks for sharing. There should be lots of those in production (in my mind anyway). I have thought about having some custom engraving done to my lowers as well, but just haven't made it a priority I guess.

Maybe someone with connections will come along and decide to set-up a group buy with a nice American rollmark. Who knows, maybe I will even try to send Aero Precision or Mega an email to see how tough it would be to set up.

indeed.

Re: Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos?

I'll take mine plain. But I do like the HK style bullet selector marks, yet own none.
I realize some manufacturers want instant brand recognition, since I build mine they don't get my business. If I bought complete rifles it probably wouldn't stop me.
And then some just practice plain old supply and demand, some people want silly graphics on their gun, scope, whatever, if they didn't the manufacturers wouldn't be selling them.
End of the day its just business, and I appreciate the selection.

AGP has one where there is a small Flag CNC-ed into the front of the mag well. While it is cool, its small. I wanted something bigger that screams USA.

Link to AGP: http://www.agparms.com/products/AGP-Arms-Forged-AR%252d15-Lower-Receiver.html

That is a good idea on the group buy, might do that for my store's grand opening...

Re: Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos?

I can deal with some animals on my lowers but the Zombies are where I draw the line. Its a firearm not a paintball gun for god sakes.

Re: Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos?

there are tons out there to choose from without much difference in their functionality. It's easy to X them off your list if they have a logo you dont like.

Re: Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos?

i've seen lots of emblems on lowers. some USMC EGAs, some Army Eagle and Sheilds, some Navy Anchors, etc. DPMS offers to some guard units the unit insignia on a lower.

personally, i want to take a plain-jane lower and add a placard of my own to it. i'd use something like the Eagle Globe and Anchor or something with the American Flag. i'd do it on a plate of titanium, and attach it to the magwell. i've actually given this a lot of thought. i'd write a simple program to do a little engraving, then mill up a flared insert for the magwell. then i'd send it to a friend that is a welder for a medical device manufacturer (and he can build one hell of a chopper frame too) and have the magwell welded in. the plate would probably be attached to a couple little threaded bungs that would be welded in as well, and then have a "lip" welded in around the plate so i don't catch my hand on it.

however, the only way i can conceive doing this would be by starting with an 80% lower, finish machine it, weld the stuff up, and have it coated afterwards.

the only thing stopping me is that i don't have a shop to do this at, and i'm not going to pay someone else to do it!!!
