Well I was not looking for another M1A but you know how some things work....
My recent bring home is a new Springfield Super Match M1A. My "other" rifle is a 1970-80's vintage Springfield that was a stock M1A but I did the NM mods to, added NM sights and a McMillian urban camo stock. That rifle is all USGI parts, has a mint Winchester 1964 barrel and has been a good rifle although the bedding needs re-done and I am debating re-doing it myself or possible sending it out, anyway back on point.
My new super match is brand new but was built several years back. Its got a nice chunk of wood on it. Bedding and barrel tension look correct and feel good.
There is not a single USGI part on it and that had me a little freaked out at first. I guess the "good old days" are over and this is the way it is today. The receiver is rear lugged with the Douglass barrel. Bolt is fitted nicely and the trigger is pretty nice. I think the one I did is better but I spent several hours stoning on it to get is that way.
I slapped one of my Les Tam slings on it and I am waiting to hit the range.
Now to get some trigger time for the Springfield match at Perry next year!
