Layton,
I'm not suggesting that we shut down the forum, archive everything and defer to said archives via searches for all future reference...but what I am saying is that barrel break-in, like the "this vs. that" and "which is the best widget for x" threads and other such topics that get brought up with ridiculous regularity and ALWAYS to the same incredibly "fruitful" ends could be easily handled by a simple search. By way of example, just by searching for barrel break in, you get 25k+ results of which there has been ZERO new information on the subject for years...decades even.
It is what it is and nothing more (or less). I just don't see why the hell we must continue to waste time, bandwidth, etc., etc., etc. on the same tired old topic over and over...again and again. But...given the seeming reluctance of folks to do their due diligence before posting, to run searches, to read (especially the FAQs), I suppose we should all just continue to recite the same tired old crap time and again for the masses to absorb.
Anyway...I digress. To the OP...the point being...do it or don't. It genuinely doesn't matter when all is said and done. If you do proceed with barrel break in, regardless of which method/madness you follow, use proper cleaning equipment (like a bore guide, quality 1pc rod, proper cleaning chemicals/solutions, etc.) and be careful in doing so. More barrels have been ruined by poor cleaning (and break in) techniques than I care to imagine. Good luck and God speed! </div></div>
When I searched, I got a whole lot of stuff, very little of which had to do with barrel break in.
