Just read an article on the 783. It is supposed to fill in between the 770 and 700. It comes with a barrel nut and a center-mounted trigger release like the Savage AccuTrigger. This should make for some lively comments!

I saw it at DSC, looks like Remington took some of the best attributes of its competitors rifles and put them together at a very competitive price point.

My guess is its going to be on par with the Ruger American which so far seems to have fairly good reviews for a super cheap rifle... I'd be a whole lot more interested in the Ruger if they had a varmint barrel.

Yep, there is a bit of borrowing of ideas here with the barrel nut, round receiver, adjustable trigger. But I think this will be a step up from the Savage Axis and Stevens models as well as the Ruger American. With the heavier sporter barrel it should make a better target gun out of the box than the others mentioned above. I'd be interested to see more of the bolt and bolt head setup. In the article I read I didn't see it mention if it is compatible with 700 accessories. If not, I think Remington made a big mistake.

Similarly, I'd be curious if they shared the same inletting pattern. That would be a great thing if they did...
