Rifle Scopes Need a tripod, whats out there nowadays?

Finally broke down a bought a good spotter. Swaro HD. Now im in need of a tripod. This is something that I know nothing about, so Im trying to find out whats out there. Mostly will be shooting from a bench or prone and the spotter has the straight eyepiece. I dont mind spending a little money here.

Do yourself a favor and get a Manfrotto fluid head regardless of what tripod you buy.

It makes aiming the spotter a breeze. I fought with a friction lock based head for months and the fluid head is the best money you can spend.

I bought this Zeiss (Manfrotto) carbon tripod with fluid head from Euro Optics, allegedly a demo, for several hundred off list, but they still list it on their site at the demo price ($400).

It is quite a piece of engineering, and if you can afford it, I heartily recommend it. I figure it is the last tripod I will ever buy. The hide has really made me a convert to the buy-once-cry-once mindset.

IMO your Swaro deserves it, and you will not be disappointed.

Check out Gitzo. I think their carbon fiber tripods are the best on the market. I mount my Swarovski 15x56's on them....good combo. A good fluid head will make a big difference also.

Manfrotto 055CXPRO3

Carbon fiber so its strong and lightweight, I put my 055PROXB on the shelf because it weighed so much more than the CF model. I like the Manfrotto 322 pistol grip head with the Larue picatinny adapter. I shoot off my tripods quite a bit, but still like the quick change capability to throw the spotter, rifle or rangefinder on the tripod (i machined adapters that allow you to attach a Magpul (because the inexpensive price point) pic rail to a spotting scope, rangefinder, anything with a 1/4-20 thread pattern on it).
