Has anyone tried this twist rate on the medium weight bullets say the berger 168vld? Building a hunting rifle and probably don't need a fast twist barrel for these bullets.

Good deal, think we'll go with this twist. If we go heavier the extra twist could be a good thing.

The 8.4 twist should work well with the new Berger 195gr EOL bullet whenever they release it, if you ever choose to go with a heavier bullet.

I worked up a load for a bud's Thompson with a Bullberry 9 twist. It stabilized 175 SMKs (foulers) enough to print a 1/2" 100 yard group. It loved the 168 VLDs at 2970 fps.
I have a 1:8.4" Rock that will get 180 Bergers.
