My rifle has arrived so my Viper has to come off the Steyr PCP and so I need some glass for it.

I've owned the Bushnell scopes before and while I never ran one through the ringer, I was pleased with its performance. But it doesn't have parallax adjustment, which is nice on an airgun.

An acquaintance of mine was down one the lower end Super Snipers but this was before the mil/mil scopes came available. He does some instructing and had many students with the SS scopes crap out. Has there been any changes to the scopes besides matching the reticle and turrets?

I'm not here to flame SS or Bushnell. My Steyr will be my training rifle and I'll be dialing a lot. Should I consider either of these scopes? Ranges will be from 10-150 yards.

Thanks,

Paul

Pretty sure you could use the SS as a club to beat the Bushnell into scrap.
All joking aside the SS wins this battle but the Bushnell is no slouch at its price point.
The parallax adjustment of the ss will be nice for short distance.

The SS has an etched reticle, the Bushnell had a wire reticle. The parallax on the SS is adjustable down to 10 yds, the Bushnell is fixed. Both are Mil/Mil, but the reticle on the SS would be better (subjective) for hold-overs/offs as the reticle has more detail.

Thanks for the replies. Which one would better hold up to dialing elevation. There will be a lot but within a limited range, probably something on the order of 10 mils.

Right now with my current setup in MOA I'm dialing 6 minutes from 40 to 70 yards. It would take 36 MOA to get to 150 yards which is a long shot with these rifles.

Anyone have much experience dialing with either scope? How has it held up?

Inability to focus on a target closer than 50 or so yards, and lack of adjustable parallax, would pretty much end my interest in the Bushnell 10x40 for your application. The SS with its adjustable focus/parallax down to 10 yards is just screaming that it is what you want.

BTW I own the 10x Bushnell and a 6x42 fixed SS. Both are good, but for shots shorter than 100 yards the Bushnell just isn't the right tool.
