Anyone try Reloader 17 in the 6mm Creedmoor?
I'm having a hard time finding H4350, but can find R17.
Thanks!
I couldn't find any amaxs picked up 3 boxes of Berger 105 VLD Targets. Anyone have any OAL data for the vlds?
Oops forgot to put rifle stats. Thanks Jgorski.
Rifle is a gap10 so it's got some tight magazine restrictions.
Nice looking rifle J.
Thank you! The light loads I tried ended up at 40.5grs., primers or brass wasnt even close to showing over pressure, but who knows, maybe another grain will.
It could be a difference in platforms too, where I'm using a semi-auto and you have a bolt gun. It will be interesting to see what your load turns out to be and how fast you fling them. I would almost bet you'll see 3200 fps if not faster.
Well, I started my load development using RL17. Since I'm shooting a GAP10 I consulted with George first to see what he thought. I also had a friend run me some calculations using his quick load program, as well as running my own calculations using the Pawley computer option in my Loadbase program. I took the recommendations from all three and started low and worked my way up, eventually I got to 41.5gr of RL17 and my brass started to show signs of overpressure. (extractor marks, etc.) 41 grains looked promising accuracy wise and velocity out of my 23" barrel was almost 3000 fps. So, I decided to load up some more using 41.2 gr. of RL17. This is the same load I use using H4350. The H4350 gives me 2920 fps and groups of 1/2 moa or better from the GAP10. Using RL17 my velocity is now 3024 fps and I'm still maintaining my 1/2 moa or better groups, 5 shots at 100m. The added velocity is a pleasant surprise that will be very helpful if this load turns out to perform well downrange!!
My next step is to verify this velocity and accuracy at extended ranges out to at least 1200 yards. I'll be sure to check back when I get the chance to do the rest of the test.
Hey guys,
As powder is a nightmare to find these days, has anyone tried H4895? I'm more than happy to tune it. I don't know enough about powder to know if this is a terrible idea or not. My current load is:
41.2gr H4350
Hornady brass
Hornady 105 HPBT's
Fed GoldMatch primers
I have tried RE17, but sadly its just too hot. great speeds and accuracy. but its loosening primer pockets and burnt out one bolt face.
I am running a GAP-10 with a 23' bartlin.
Found a node @ 42.5 using H4350 with velocity 3146
