George, is there any difference between a 6mm Creedmoor and a 6XC? Tubb said the 6.5 Creed is a necked up 6XC, this would make the 6mm Creedmoor and 6XC the same cartridge, yes?

George told me the 6 creed has the neck moved up a bit with the neck being the same but overall brass length is .014" longer. Holds 2 grains more.

So let's see if I got this right. The body on the 6mm Creed is .014" longer than the 6XC and the neck and should are the same? .014" ain't much, and is definitely not a big enough increase in case volume to hold an additional 2 grains of powder. Maybe a tenth of grain or two at the most, but that's it. So functionally, they are the same cartridge.

I have but they were only break-in loads(mild), In may Ill be shooting the real loads, 41-43grs, should prove to see if the powder works for me.

Is your 6 creed throated for VLDs? Mine isnt so what I get wouldnt be the same as what might get, as you know VLDs like to be seated into the lands. For my 105 Hornady HPBT throated rifle Ive got the VLDs seated to 2.220" using the ogive, OAL should be about 2.772", this is seated into the lands about .005". My next 6 Creed will be throated for VLDs and the OAL will be .079" shorter.

Rifle is a gap10 auto loader using pmags. So it's got some tight magazine restrictions.

Well, I started my load development using RL17. Since I'm shooting a GAP10 I consulted with George first to see what he thought. I also had a friend run me some calculations using his quick load program, as well as running my own calculations using the Pawley computer option in my Loadbase program. I took the recommendations from all three and started low and worked my way up, eventually I got to 41.5gr of RL17 and my brass started to show signs of overpressure. (extractor marks, etc.) 41 grains looked promising accuracy wise and velocity out of my 23" barrel was almost 3000 fps. So, I decided to load up some more using 41.2 gr. of RL17. This is the same load I use using H4350. The H4350 gives me 2920 fps and groups of 1/2 moa or better from the GAP10. Using RL17 my velocity is now 3024 fps and I'm still maintaining my 1/2 moa or better groups, 5 shots at 100m. The added velocity is a pleasant surprise that will be very helpful if this load turns out to perform well downrange!!

My next step is to verify this velocity and accuracy at extended ranges out to at least 1200 yards. I'll be sure to check back when I get the chance to do the rest of the test.

It could be a difference in platforms too, where I'm using a semi-auto and you have a bolt gun. It will be interesting to see what your load turns out to be and how fast you fling them. I would almost bet you'll see 3200 fps if not faster.

I can report as well that I tried from 41.0 - 41.5 of RE17 .. and I found as well that 41.2 was best for me.

Shooting GAP10 6mmCM ( no wind, 61 degress, 56% hum, 733Ft, 29.52" baro)

I as well got 1/2 MOA groups at 200 yards. My best was .441 MOA. As for velocity, I averaged 3031 out of 15 shots using a magneto speed. So I suspect, I can do a touch better in the accuracy department with the magneto speed unattached.

For what its worth.. I have taken H4350 at 41.2 gr out to 900 yards and hit 6" targets. As well, I have taken it to 1330 that was a 24" target tho. 1k + is a whole new game for me tho. I have lots to learn. I am really psyched to try RE17 at distance

Guys, I had no issues with up to 42grs RE17 last week, no pressure signs at all in my Longrifles Inc rifle. So far I found right around 41.5-42.2grs to be the most accurate, working on the seating depths right now, backed off about .020" to see if the vertical will go away, also will be trying 4000MR & H4350, the only thing is, H4350 wont give me the velocity that these other 2 powders will give me. 42grs RE17 or 43-43.5grs 4000MR should easily get me over 3200.

Looks like Im settling on 42grs RE17, 105HPBTs seated to 2.740" oal, same for the hybrids but seated them to 2.810". Also used my 269 bushing to get more neck tension, hopefully that'll get rid of the vertical that I get at times.

How much are you using of the RE17? I got good results with up to 41.9grs, just worked best in temps under 75 or so.

Bringing this back up. I just picked up a gap10 in 6mm Creedmoor and looked over some of the loads on here and found where George said to run 41.5gn of h4350 with the Hornady 105gn BTHP. I'm running bn coated 105gn hybrids and with that load jumping from 20tho to 50 thou I get some major ejector marks. Velocity was around 3025fps. I backed it down to 40gn of h4350 with the bn coated hybrids and still getting ejector marks and velocity is down around 2930fps or so. In my bolt 6mm Creedmoors it normally takes about 1.5-2 full grains more powder with the bn coated hybrids to get the same velocity so with this I'm running around 3150fps and using 44.3gn of h4350 with zero pressure signs. Primers are still nice and round. Any suggestions on the bn coated hybrids? 23' Barrel is a 1-7.7 bartline that as of now has approx 220 rounds down the barrel. It was fully cleaned last night before I took it out today for testing. It does not have an adjustable gas block yet so I can't fool with that until I either find the one I have or get one on the way. I also have a Jp low mass bcg and captured buffer spring setup on the way to smooth things up some.

I pulled some loaded rounds from cc and they were 42.3 h4350. 105 Berger hybrid. Also seated them 20/1000's deeper and they shot like a DREAM. .12 moa at 110 yards

I'm getting ejector swipes at 40.6gn of h4350 but I'm betting it had to do with more of a timing deal being a semi than a pressure deal. I'm got an adjustable gas block on the way along with some others and hopefully they will straighten it out. It sure does shoot great at 42.5gn of h4350 though.
