I'm looking for your favorite load in this round using the 115 Gr DTAC's preferably with Boron Coating. My max load length is 2.810. Please post them up if you are shooting this round.

2shots, could you give a little more info on barrel life...ala you think it will be toast at 1k, 1200, 1500 etc. Thanks. I've been thinking about using the bullet in a 6x47L, but it shoots pert darn good with Sierras/Bergers so I've never gotten around to trying them. Also, what twist are you running? Thanks.
That was my load as well. Came in at 2990fps and was very accurate. When I sold the rifle I had over 1800 rounds through it and it was still an easy 1/2 MOA rifle.
Right now my barrel length is 26" and twist is 1-7.5". Does anyone have experience with this combo using Reloader-25?

I don't have a .243 anymore, but I used H-1000. It gave me better velocity than H-4350 with the same or better accuracy. Mine was a 27", 1 in 8" twist.
I also tried Re25. It gave good velocity, but was "slightly" less accurate than H-1000 was. That and the temperature stability differences is what kept me using H-1000.

What was the velocity you were getting with 42.5 grs? I have tried 44.0grs of RE-25 with only slightly flattened primers.
I apologize, my mistake- I run 42.5 of H4350(corrected post above). With RL25 I'm at 47.5 getting 3040fps. Barrel is 26inch 1:7.5 Bartlein (Win case, F210M).

This is good info. I haven't found much out there with the round/bullet combo, so every little bit helps.
Ya knockemdowm that is still the hammer I bought from you still shooting your load other than I switched to bn coating with no difference in accuracy. I have a long way to go to shoot to this rifles potential that's all I can say!

115 BN DTACs with 41.5gr H4350, Lapua brass, BR primers, 2970 fps which is very mild, I have got solid results out to 1370 yards so far. The barrel is sitting around 2K rounds and its still a laser, barrel is a Broughton 1/7.3 twist 5C. I worked up to 3080 fps using H4350 when pressure signs started, but right at 2970 was the most accurate charge combo and I wouldnt be shocked if it made it past 3K with this load. I have just started playing around with RL22 and RL25 and will shoot for the 3100 fps + mark.
I have been working up loads for my 243 AI with 28" 7.5 twist using H1000. I can't find 4350 powder.
This is with 210M primers. I tried 215 Magnum primers and ran into pressure problems
-way- too fast. I'm dropping these loads through a 5-6" drop tube. Seating is .02 from Ogive.
Results are at 300 yards. The wind was gusty left to right 5mph, thus the specific call out on vertical
dispersion. Hope this is helpful to my fellow DTAC BN aficionados

I worked up to 47.5 gr of Reloader-25 today and the best I could get was 2,914fps. I'm thinking I may need to try a different powder to get me over the 3,000fps mark. Any suggestions?
Well I tried Reloader 17 yesterday and was able to get over 3,000 fps. Accuracy was around 3/4 moa. Going to work up in .2 grain increments to see if accuracy improves.
Really starting to like the Reloader-17. I've been tinkering with 41.8 and 42.0 grains and getting slightly over 3,000fps, and grouping sub 1/2moa. Going to try seating depths to see if we can improve on that.
You guys using RE25 using magnum primers?

I would bet not. The pressure curve sucked a## for me.
4350 with 210 pr 210M is the way to go. Expect to hit accuracy node at 42 to 42.5gr.

Ok, I am not shooting dtac's but was curious, I was able to get the 105 Berger up to 3450fps from my 28" kreiger with H4831SC(at max 49.0gn .000 jump) but quickly found a node at 3030fps (44.5gn .100 jump). I want to know is their a node between these two speeds? I want it to shoot as acurite but faster. It shot like shit at 3450. And it shot 1.5" @ 600yds at 3030. I do most load work at 600 yds.

I'm using RE-17 at 42.0 gr. I have .005 jump to the lands and am getting 3,050 with the Boron coated DTAC's. 26" Schneider 5P rifling.
Your 9 twist will not stabilize the Dtac's
U will have good luck with 105 a-max though...

We tried RL-25 at 47.5gr and got about the same velocity as you MSTN. I feel like I was throwing a lot of powder out the end of the barrel for the speed I was getting. We switched to RL-17 and are getting 3,103fps with only 42.0 grains of powder. We're using 26" Schneider barrels with 1-7.5 twist.
Maybe my problem was I wasn't pushing them fast enough! I was getting pressure signs and quit load development with the 105 bergers and amax's.

Thanks for the info guys . What is a better powder H4350 or RL25 ? I'm trying to build up some supplies and have loaded H4350. I see RL25 at some stores usally more than H4350.

I used 4350 for a long time with the 243 and DTACs, but I have also had great luck with RL22 and RL25, as well as H1000. I use H1000 in a 338 Edge and in a 243 chambered for DTACs, it works great out of my 24" 1:7.7 Benchmark barrel

Thanks Captain I figure I need 16 pounds of powder to make it through the 243's barrel life. I didn't want to work up a load then have the supply dry up and have to rework up a load. Time to start looking.
I'm .01 off the lands. But in just under 500 rounds my throat has grown .025, so keep that in mind that you should check OAL every couple hundred rounds. I was noticing that my speed seamed to be slowing down is what caught my attention and got me to check that.
Okay everyone, Reloader 17 sucks in this round when the temp drops in the 30's. Basically going from 70's down to the low 30's I'm down about 180fps. More than I want to deal with, keep posting up your loads, especially with powder than isn't so temperature sensitive.
I just barely found this old thread. Do the 115 DTACS fit well in an AI style magazine? I am about to build a rifle but am leaning toward a 6 Creedmoor for better COAL but if a 243 works I would rather have that. Thanks.
