I have a 5R in .308. Shoots really well. I've never liked the HS stock much. Thinking I'd like something "tactical". Adjustable LOP and cheek weld. Reasonably light. Any suggestions. Money, as always, is a consideration. Thanks for any advice.

Maybe "offset the costs"., for ya. I've got a 5R, that some guy put a weird stock on. Would like to bring her back to original.

Thanks but I should have mentioned that I fitted an HS detachable mag system. Despite being billed as a drop in, I had to shave just the tiniest bit. I assume the original bottom metal will fit. I should check it before I go too far.

What does your stock look like?

Just put mine in a Manners T2 mini chassis. It's pretty expensive but made it so much better than the HS precision. Kind of wish I would have just gone all the way and ordered the T2A though.

Right around Christmas I found a Manners T4A molded in Desert Camo on their ready to ship list. Was the correct inlet up top and was setup for the M5 on the bottom. Best money spent on the gun so far.

I think to get a proper cheek weld it's worth it, unless you make your own with foam or mouse pad and duct tape. As long as you can get a proper consistant cheek weld it doesn't matter.

W8d4it,
I was going through this most recently and ended up with a Manners. They are not the least expensive option however I would say they are very much worth the investment. Go to their site and look at the options. You can also give them a call with your details and they can make a recommendation.

I am very impressed with the stock I bought and also extremely impressed with their superior customer service. I dont think you can go wrong with them.

Best of luck.....

just sold my manners OD few days ago here

for A5 mcmillan this:
A5 RH REM 700 SURGEON DBM SA LIGHT TAN/OLIVE/BLACK
the only diff on both stock are.A5 molded color vs paint on manners.and in my IMO and my smith agree aswell the mcm bit better quality and packing.i also tried aics on my 5r but kept going back to mcm..(personal pref.)
adjustable? with the .925 ring needed to trim bikini to make it work. low enough that for me i dont need adjustable cheek for extra couple $.
i keep seing a lot of shooter equiped with adjustable cheek piece but never use it.on a varmint barrel get the lowest ring and a stock pack and its more than enough for cheek raised.unless your like everyone that has ectra buck to burn.
you can never go wrong on manners mcm or chasis for an upgrade..get what comfort you better NOT because everyone has it..

I've a 5R in an AICS, its awesome. I also own the B&C A5, its a tank but a great stock. Get the AICS, torque your action to specs and be on your way. McCree Pecision also makes a good stock.

V/R,
Matt
