i got a surgeon long action single shot magnum (just the action) this morning. very unexpected but was a good deal. and i don't know what the hell to do with it. never had a single shot. what would you guys build with this. kind of out of the blue

My vote is for 6.5x284.....Just shot a friends the other day and really like that round.

That sounds like the perfect action to start a F-Open rig. Chamber it for a lazer round like the 284 or 300 WM and tear up your nearest fullbore club. Out of curiosity, how good of a deal was it?

Is it the 1086 or the XL?

Either way, I say 7mm Rem Mag or .300 Ultra....shoot 180s or 208+s and slay some steel at a mile plus. Put her in a Manners, or an XLR, LR Accuracy bipod, optic of choice.....ohhh baby.
