Whole Milk is hard to beat
Scivation Xtend during and post work out. Add some Glutamine to it during post work out for best results. A whey protien shake consumed within an hour post work out helps great too for most workouts.
For killer work out days, try Whey Protien shake, Xtend and Glutamine post work out. Drink alot of water through out the day and take Arginine Ornithine & Glutamine * Gaba with Melatonin before you sleep. You'll sleep and dream like crazy and wake up ready to go.
No joke here, chocolate milk has the right balance of protein/carbs/fat for a post-workout recovery drink. There has been quite a bit of research done on it - do a quick Internet search. I drink a glass after my evening run or workout and it helps keep muscles from getting sore and keeps me from feeling worn out afterwards. Also, at $2.99/gallon, if you don't like it of if it doesn't work for you, you aren't out much.
YMMV

I'm really just getting started in the gym. I have a long way to go. As a beginner (4 mos.) the buggiest turn off is the soreness. I started taking L-glutamine (Promotes Muscle Repair) an hour before workouts, and L-Arginine (Increases Circulation) in the morning with my oatmeal/complex carb. I do the ON protein shake immediately after my workout. I have noticed a distanced difference since starting.
